AU Falcon 5.0 200kw
Hi
Does anyone know a sure way to check the difference visually bewteen a 175, 185 and 200kw AU Falcon 5.0 engines?
I am going to buy a 5.0 on Monday and want to make sure I'm getting a 200kw and not scammed a 175 from the wreckers.

Hi,
All the 200kW & 220 kW emgines had 1.7 :1 Roller rockers standard. You can see them if you look down the oil filler hole.
Cheers

I'm guess series stamping to the block wont help as it is probably all top end mods. achieving the improvement.
So knowing injector colour and TB sizes might be a good clue but as you say not definitive where someone wants to try on a shonky upgrade claim.

Rick, do the 1.7 rockers appear different? Forged roller tip? or stamped?

The 200 and 220kw engines were both Tickford modified.
The 200kw should have a tickford plaque on the rocker cover and it should have a 65mm throttle body.
Not too sure if the 200kw engines got the gt40p heads.

Actually I'm pretty sure the 220kw engine has the 1.7 rockers and the 200kw has the 1.6 rockers

t series
i owned recently a 220kw ts50, the series 1 ts50 was 220kw and te50 was200kw, then they all went to 220kw in series 2, the series 1 220kw had alloy gt40 heads, [the only factory alloy heads fitted to a 5.0 windsor] in series 2 they went back to iron gt40 heads as a cost cutting measure i think. the xr8s had iron heads. they are all badged tickford, hand built and plaqued with the engine builders signature. i doubt that you would get an alloy headed factory 5.0 as they only made 54 of them, mine was no 31, if you get one out of a wreck youve got a pretty rare 5.0. series 3 was all 347s 250kw and is a gun car with an excellent plenum chamber, the rarest car of them all is the series 3 tl50 347 long wheelbase, they only ever made 3 of them. in my opinion the t series cars were far better engineered allround than the ba series 5.4 ltr that replaced them, even today a lot of ford guys dont even know what they are, my ts50 was an absolute ripper and out handled any equivalent commodore much to their dismay. one of the nicest features of the car was the push button sequential gear change on the steering wheel. tomcat

I had an AU3 Pursuit 250. It was equipped with the 250KW 347 motor. Very distinctive manifold on it and ceramic coated headers from the factory. Had plenty of get up and go and the utes didn't get traction control for some obscure reason. It was a handful in the wet.
Cheers
