I think every second car in private ownership has private plates.
The RTA does it again...I saw a current standard black & white plate ASP 126 so I went straight to the RTA and asked if that was the current number. The lady said yes ! So Iasked if ASP351 was available. She said yes ! So I asked if ASP427 was available. She said why yes ! I said can I have those please. She said that will be $100 please and it will cost you $100 every year.
I said But they are current plates and that only costs $47 . She said yes BUT you ordered these so they are custom plates....take em or leave em.
I said for that price, do you come around and polish them each month. She just looked at me strange. After 3 years the RTA has dropped the $100
extortion.
