Type and location of windscreen washers
Howdy Guys
As part of my engine bay tidy up am thinking about all the bits I originally used to clutter my engine bay and how I can now tidy these up. Ugly heater hosing and valves have gone, same for the fuel vapour solenoid and another item I'm thinking about is the windscreen washer bottle. Where have others positioned these relatively unattractive fluid reservoirs in the engine bay? Or elsewhere for that matter! Are there blingy versions around or am I stuck with a standard plastic version? Any and all ideas appreciated. Pics particularly. Cheers |
Steven, in the Harrison, there is an out of sight area behind the wheel arch on the LHS that is covered by a panel separating it from the engine bay.

The G Force has a removable panel infront of the brake master location for easier access. You've sparked the thought as to whether I could located the bottle in the wheel well too. Have to have a look. Cheers |
Slowy I've used a bag type like the FoMoCo ones on early Mustangs etc for that 60's look.

Don't have a picture of what you mean? I've no mental picture of this.

Get rid of all together
Stephen,
From my experience, windscreen washers on a Cobra are a waste of time. When you use them with top off, you just get wet. Get rid of the bag altogether and use Rainex on your screen. That's my 2 bob's worth. Baz |
Windshield what...?
Haha, I had them installed and up and running until I took the car to the shop for paint and the car looked silly with wipers to me. I hoped to retain a little less civilized appearance plus I live where there are about 8 sunny months a year. I won't intentionally drive in the rain anyhow.
Last year my 16 year old son Preston and I travelled in the Beast on a 1700 miles roundtrip to and around the Grand Canyon. Got caught in a huge rainstorm between Kingman and Bakersfiled on the way back but at the 75mph+ highway speeds in that area it all flew over our heads as it ran off the windshield and we stayed dry through it all....would have been a bummer to have had to pull over for any reason or travel through a town...but I intend to get a waterproof cover for just such occasions - my high dual rollbar would keep it over our heads and we could wait it out...I hope  Regards! I hadn't ever considered going to that much trouble for a washer bottle LB |
Michael
My engine bay is wide open space so if I'm going to fill it with items they may as well be shiny. Still contemplating hanging the bottle on the front cross rail towards the radiator. I can always replace the average looking plastic with a flashy stainless job similar to cobbindale's later. Merv I will be driving in all weather, so one needs to have wiper and washer capability down here. I need to get some value out of this beast given how long it hasn't been running. Thanks all for the ideas. Cheers |
