But that will not change the rules for ICV's.

You should support the changes for modified vehicles to be treated as ICV's and then when there are lot's of ICV's the rules for ICV's will change. Think about it.

I made mention of this about 2.5 weeks ago in Baz's rego thread.

I have already signed that when Boxhead posted it but I tend to agree. If hotrods have to comply with the same rules, we will benifit from their proactive federation.

I'm curious as to whether this is for modified cars--Ricers and street machines-- or Hot Rods. The hot rod fraternity seems to have it pretty much under control. Then again the RTA is very active lately with some crazy rules about importing ANY type of vehicle.

From what I read Rob, it would appear that the RTA initally flagged this idea through the Australian Street Rod Federation (ASRF) to see what sort of a reaction this so called initiative would achieve and it's snow-balled from there. If you read between the lines, it would also appear that Street Rods, which at the moment are exempt from the majority of ADR's which we are exposed to, will suddenly fall under the umbrella of being classified as I.C.V's.

I think it applies to all motor vehicles that have been subject to an Engineer's Report to secure registration for modifications which have been carried out. When the smoke clears, the turmoil which this is going to generate may be to the benefit of all Kit Car builders.

On the other hand, when you flick the coin over and look at RTA Vehicle Compliance Inspector staffing numbers, there is no way that this RTA plan could be implemented without a massive increase in Inspector numbers. NSW is broke. There has been no mention in the State Budget papers to suggest that this huge increase in RTA Inspector staffing is going to occur.

Notwithstanding this, I have still added my name to the petition. In my opinion, everyone who contributes to this Forum, regardless of what State they live in, should do the same, just in case the stupid initiative has some merit. Get rid of it here and now and that will ensure that it won't sneak across the borders into your State at a later time.
