Has anyone every shipped an engine from the US?
Any idea of freight charges to ship one of these engines?

Hi Cobber,

Im currently investigating the option of using a new 5.0L donk in my build.
I'm still a rookie at this and I'm only at the research stage.

First initial concern for me is -> Will it (the supercharger), all fit under the hood of a cobra without requiring the need to get a hood-scoop on steroids?
For me that would be a deal breaker...

Next question I'm grappling with, I guess, is do I really need the Supercharger?
Which in turn may leave my first question redundant.

& to answer your question - No I haven't shipped in an engine from the US but plenty have, so I don't think that is a big hurdle to jump.

Cheers
Anth

My fat Lexus engine fits with a supercharger, I have around 3" clearance so I don't think height will be an issue.

Anyone have dimensions or a shadow drawing for size comparison?

Height wouln't be an issue, but width certainly would. You would need major surgery on your foot boxes in order to squeeze that baby into a Cobra's engine bay.

Interesting point raised regarding width.
I've seen a 5.4 and a 4.6 shoehorned in. I've also seen a SuperCharger on a 5.4 and the problem was the SC's clerance (10mm clerance I think). Engine was a out of a Shelby 5.4L Mustung, and the car was an SPF.
If memory severs, it was Colin and Keith at CTC in Waragul performed this transplant.
But if you have 3" to play with, then it sounds like you have some play.

All reports thus far have the new alloy 5.0L at the same size as the 5.4. Smallish sized block but with massive heads.
I haven't seen any figures, just read size comparisons.

At any rate the new 5.0L should help "return the ballace in the force" Or should I say it's the "return of the Jedi"

That should stir the pot...
:-)

Best,
Anth

It fits in to the same mustang engine bay as the modular engine so if you can get a mod into a cobra you can get one of these in. The Lexus is 75cm wide and I have plenty of leg room.

Now even cheaper and the $ is so strong, good value hp.

Several people are now doing supercharger conversions for these engine. Check out Magnuson and B&H Superchargers.
