Question Re NSW Rego?

Hopefully, I should pass my next rego inspection by the RTA and be issued with a VIN No. Following this, I should be able to go to the local Motor Regisrty and pick up my plates after handing over the bucks. Hopefully, this will happen in early January, 2011 - Over 3 years after I commenced my build.

My question is this:- If every thing goes to plan, my Cobra will receive its original registration in 2011. It will then be recorded on the RTA data base as a 2011 model.

Does this mean that I don''t have to have registration inspections for the next three (3) years as is the case of a newly registered 2011 mass produced model car in NSW

Baz?

I dont know how it works Baz, in the NT we run the same scheme (3 years on new cars before first rego check), my car was registered as a 2010 car so I will know in a couple of months when rego renewall turns up if I need to get a rego check done.

Hi Baz,

I asked my engineer this question when i was there. He seemed to think that ICV's need to be inspected annually from the start but wasnt sure. Doesnt make sense because it is a brand new car.

My car was first registered in NSW 2002 and has had to have a pinky every year since.

Once the car is registered in Qld you don't need any more inspections..... at all..... unless you de register it and have to register it again..... If the vehicle or trailer has a gvm of over 4.5t then it's a different matter....

Shhh, we don't want everyone moving here ....

Actually, I support an annual, or every two-years, safety check for all cars. Not a full inspection obviously, but those things that are involved in roadworthy/safety certificate checks. Our cars would do far better than many cars on the road.

My car was registered two years ago and has not had any pink slips.

Not sure why you are different Sloth.
