Gen IV manifold bracket??
On the rear of my L98 inlet manifold there are 2 black steel brackets that don't appear to be doing anything, anyone got any ideas as to their original purpose??

Hi Peter,
I think they are for the turtle shell to attach too. Take em off if you aren't using the turtle shell cover. Cheers |

Those two brackets are there to prevent the fuel rails lifting off in the event of catastrophic explosion. You may notice that they need to be removed/loosened to get the fuel rails off.
They don't really need to be there as the 4 bolts holding the rails down are more than adequate. |
Stumpeater thanks for this post.
another related question. Can the fuel rails be turned 180 degrees to allow the fuel inlet to be on the other side of the motor, probably should have tried it anyway but didn't want to interfere with the injectors. Stumpeater, have given up trying to save weight, every pound I take off the car I seem to put back on my own fat a... try getting that off |
