Gibbs Brand lubricant.

Does anyone know if this lubricant / metal protector / penetrant is available in Australia yet? I've tried several places in Brisbane without success.

Apparently the Aust/NZ distributor lives in NZ and there is some restriction on bringing small quantities into Australia privately by air or post because of its dangerous goods (aerosol can) classification. I know that earlier in the year the early Porsche club guys in Vic were trying to get enough takers to have a bulk order sent over by ship but I think the exercise foundered due to lack of interest.

Don;
I bought a can of Gibbs at a gun show and used it a few times, both on car parts and guns. I didn't see anything that special about it; I prefer Kroil.

Here is an another you can try. I use it mainly to protect firearms. It is called Ballistol.

All of the above I guess....
I've always had a can of WD40 or RP7 on the shelf and I suppose the Gibbs is a modern day /super improved version of the old faithfuls.
I first heard the name when I was speaking to a Pommy guy about motorcycle maintenance. He swore by it for cleaning and protecting exposed metal parts on his bike after riding on salted-snow roads, and said it was also terrific for keeping around the brake master cylinder of his car clean.
I like the way Gibbs is supposed to dry off and leave a slick surface as opposed to WD40 too.

Hey Outwest I meant to ask too... how are you coping with the flooding out there? Hope you're keeping your nose above water. Some of the TV news shots we're seeing indicate that there's some serious stuff coming your way. Good luck mate!

"All of the above I guess"
Fair enough. CRC does make Brakekleen, it's ok as a dry/ oilless cleaner. Inox is a lot like WD but seems drier too, not one of my personal favourites tho.

Floods? LOL
We were isolated for 1 day here at Sapphire, heart of the CQ Gemfields. Couldn't get to Emerald, but could get to the pub and the local store. I did a trip into emerald yesterday, the big shops in there are running low on stock, Coles had no bread whatsoever, Woolies was said to be near empty on saturday. There's plenty of truckers sitting around, 5 tonne GVM limit on all roads will slow the ingress of supplies.

average rainfall to Dec 531.7mm59.2 day(s)
total for 2010 959.4mm94 day(s)
total to this day 2009 423.6mm56 day(s)

It will be an interesting december for sure.
In 2008 my cobra was in emerald and ended up about 12-18 inches above the peak flood water level, that was a bit of a worry, now it's home in the shed and about 80 feet above any flood level we will ever see in our lifetime.
