Yay a new ADR to stop us!

Consultation has commenced on a pedestrian safety ADR. I have only had a 5 minute skim, but it appears to relate to the design of the front of the car to influence the impact on a pedestrian. This effects the design of the bumber and bonnet lip.

I didnt read it in detail but im pretty sure a cobra wont comply. In the impact study, it says that commodore and falcon dont comply.

Planned to commence 2013.

That must be the one that the media picked up last week - with the resulting outcry from soccer mums that their 4WDs might no longer be able to have their bullbars fitted in the burbs...

Apparently bull bars will still be ok as long as they comply with the Australian Standard.

Hopefully sense will apply with low volume cars such as ICVs, just as it has for airbags and ECS.
