ERAs in Australia?

Hi all,
Anybody know of any ERA Cobras in Australia, or any ERA kits being built here?
Cheers,
Glen

We're at 104 views and no replies....doesn't anybody know somebody whose brother-in-law's neighbour has a friend who has one?
Cheers
Glen

Obviously not!

One reason may be there is always a bit of a wait for a kit I think. They are a great shape and look a top kit - so good (based on a casual observation) an Oz kit took "inspiration" from their chassis design. :)

Would one of those cars ever have won 'most original Cobra' at the Nationals Andy?

Tenrocca 03-05-2011 02:56 AM

Slip the judges a fifty and anything can happen Gav.

So I've heard!

Thanks Kramer. Emailed ERA and got a reply from Bob, have found only one in Australia.
Thanks others.
Yes it would be a long wait, but worth waiting for.
Customer-built ERA cars have won the "BEST COBRA REPLICA"competition at the annual SAAC meeting in sixteen out of last seventeen years.
Cheers,
Glen

What's a CCX? Naa, just kidding. I certainly know of Contemporarys and they are nice, but I really want an ERA and I want a 289FIA . I'm not sure... are Contemporary still trading anyway?
Cheers,
Glen

There were only a few CCX FIA's, sorta scarce. Doesn't a Cobra over there need to be aged? I thought new meant that std's would be applied.

Greatest of luck in your search!

Apologies Jeff. I wasn't even aware Contemporary made FIAs!
My assumption is that there are very few ERAs here - I know of only one - and that I will have to import either a kit or a 'aged' car.

Glen,

Be aware that your ERA will look very different to those in the US, if you are trying to get full registration. This is due to the need to accommodate for ADRs.

Padded dash,
head rests on seats,
different switches, gauges, & bright work.
high rear stop light,
side indicators,
reverse lights
Plus etc, etc...

I suspect that since you are keen on a ERA289 that you are also keen on the subtle differences in "the look". ADRs could kill "the look" you are hoping for.

Is there are Club-plate scheme in S.A. that may assist you with trying to get the look you want?

Just something to consider....

I wish you the best of luck moving forward with this project.
I'd love to see you manage it!

Glen,

Sounds like there is at least one ERA, likely a 427 car? Looks as if you will need to blaze the trail for a 289 car. Keep us posted :)
