Toyota75 series brake calipers
Has anyone thought about fitting Toyota 75 series landcruiser front calipers to their build , or has someone done it already ?
Apparently they run on 35mm width discs, which makes sense seeing as they are a bit chubby ? If so did they have any issues such pedal pressure etc or just the plain size of 'em  Rog |
Rog,
35mm disks are pretty hefty for a 1200kg car not to mention the potential issues of trying to adapt them and the calipers to the front uprights. Cheers |
They are cast iron, so no weight savings if swapping out from a Jag.
I have seen and heard of them being used in brake upgrade for Valiants, but in a Cobra, I think you will want to ditch weight as much as going bigger. |
well it was just a thought. Was thinking more from a $ point of view.

The Prado calipers could be a consideration as well, 4 piston, easy access / remove replace pads through the top, the front discs on mine are 338 x 28, rear are 4 spot as well, but the discs are 318 x 18 skinny un-ventilited joffas.
Got a 75 series as well, the discs are 322 x 32 on the front but mine only have 2 spot calipers in a slide, Dave |
Thanks for that Dave. I don't know which way I'll go yet. I can get a real good deal of 6 pot calipers from BHSS up here in Brizzie. On top of that if I take them in some worn out rotors they will machine them up into a hat so you can then mount new rotors on to them, so I think that might be to go.
