Door Hinge Question
One of our SE-QLD members Michael Burgess has a door hinge problem with his older G Force Cobra"
"It is a G-Force King Cobra from Western Australia. My mechanic tells me that the door hinge is clamped/attached through the chassis and they need to cut an hole in the chassis to get to the faulty hinge stripped bolt or whatever the problem is. I had considered dropping it down to DRB but thought as I live at Woody Point on the Redcliffe peninsular there may be someone closer." Any suggestions for Michael or ideas about who might do such work up this way? Many thanks, Merv |

Must be attached differently to the later cars. My hinges are attached to the upright steel member that acts as the windscreen and inner front cross bar attachment points. The hinges are bolted to these uprights via adjustable bases. The swinging parts of the two hinges pass through holes in the bodywork to account for the full travel of the door. Cheers Steve |
Many thanks Rob and Stephen. I have passed the info on to Michael and he is going to contact the Cobra Shop at Kippa Ring. The door hinge arrangement that you described sounds more like what I would have expected. I haven't seen Michael's hinges.

I've gat a '90 G-Force and it the same as Slowy describes. From memory it's a plate with slots for position adjustment, and bolts to another plate welded between the scuttle frame uprights.

Thanks David and also again Rob. I have forwarded on your contact number to Michael.
