Handbrake bell crank

I'm not happy with my handbrake hold..........if i adjust the pads in the hub up so as to make the handbrake effective there's too much drag on the wheels and it gets hot. Back it off a bit and the brake won't hold the car on a hill very well.

The hand lever is at max travel, I've thought about trying to improve the leverage on the bell crank, but not sure how to achieve this.....

Any ideas please?

Hey Byron Cobra,

Have been trying to find a picture of mine but looking at your pics the length of the arms on the pivot, one to the hand brake lever & the other to the cable need to be about the same length from memory. You could try turning yours around so the short arm goes to the hand brake lever & the long arm goes to the cable. Someone with a Harrison might have a drawing in the folder Waricks gives out with his kits.

I have no problems at all with mine Greg, the handbrake is very strong and easy to pull on. I seem to have the same set up but maybe the leverage is different somehow. Will take a pic later.

Thanks fellas, I spent the day fiddling around with this and have had some success with lengthening the arm connecting to the hub. This has given a bit more lever travel and consequent pulling action......the car holds on a reasonable hill now, hopefully it will pass the test.....
