L76 Straight thermostat housing
As the title says - Im after a straight thermostat housing for a L76 with the stock water pump. Not sure which one to get, as they are all US made and not sure if a L76 over there has the same water pump??
I seem to recall those here who got one used the CSR on the LS1 (Part # CSR 911LS1C) and had to use a different thermostat?
Cheers.

Andrew,
I used the straight housing and got on my mates lathe to take out enough from the inside, for a thermostat to fit into the straight housing.

Shipps, I had my factory water neck modified. The neck is cut at an angle, spun around to face forwards and welded back on. I don't have any photos handy but can take some on the weekend if you like.

When i fitted the CSR thermostat housing I tossed the standard thermostat and just fitted a standard Holden 308 thermostat. I drilled a 3mm bypass into it and it went straight in. I have had no problems with overheating on 40+ deg days.

Andrew, From memory I machined out Phil N's CSR billet straight housing to take the stock thermostat. It's not a difficult job.

I bought a polished alloy 350 chev straight housing and had the back machined out to take the standard L76 thermostat. I also used Devcon to fill the bolt holes then re-drilled them as they are a slighlty different spacing. All works well.

I needed a straight one also, but knew a guy who does some machining work from his home, so I got him to knock up on for my car. Fitted perfectly and works a treat.
