Need to borrow some wheels and tyres for Dyno

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone had an old bodgy pair of 17 or 18 inch wheels and tyres (rears only) with a PCD of 120 (Dunnydore or BMW) with hard crap tyres I could borrow for a few days. Needs to have a fairly negative offset. Don't care what width but 9 inch plus would be good. Probably a backspace around 130mm at a guess but I'll measure before I borrowed em...

My car is off to the Dyno on Monday to try and sort out my engine issues and I don't wanna fry up my slicks and my wallet...if possible.

Thanks in advance.

HOW hard are you going to push your car ? Man a decent dyno man shouldn't damage the car. I remember when I was at school there was a dyno place down the road and after school I'd go and watch. Torana GtXu1 s and SLR5000s were pretty common...he blew up quite a few. His policy was "All care...No responsibility" Even at that young age I could tell he was revving the engines too hard and too long. Don't be afraid to tell the dyno man if he is working the engine too hard. you're paying him. Maximum horsepower can't be made on the street and how hard are you going to drive it on the track ? Good luck any way.

Rob, costs about $650 a tyre to replace my soft easily flogged on a dyno slicks....which is all i use....its enough for me to seek out some alternative cheaper rubber. Spookypt

so why then would someone loan you tires that you are going to fry????Sorta like loaning someone a couple shotgun shells--I'll return then after shooting them---

We do a lot of chassis dyno work and tires aren't an issue anytime

It's no wonder people get the $h@$s with this forum sometimes.

I think I can help you Spook....I've got some at work in the warehouse that would do the job.
Cheers,
Warren

Yes Matt........

Can't help you with the wheels I'm afraid, I don't think the pretty ones i got from you would fit!

Maybe your local wheel/tyre dealer may have something collecting dust out the back that you could grab?

Rob,

Spook's car is a 500+rwhp unregistered left hand drive track cobra i.e. no street duties.

Just letting you know.

Thanks Gents.
- Wazza I'll give you a call a bit later today.
- Towmaster what the?? 500rwhp?? Who's telling you porkies....LOL
- Greg..hows those wheels going.....(Don't even get me started on the local tyre place)
- Donunder....its a fine line but I think that one sentence was a fair reflection on my feelings at the time.

I now have some hard old slicks (Thanks Craig at RCR) I just need some rims.... Fingers crossed.

Thanks everyone.

We quite regurally dyno cars with hp in the 600, 700 and occasionally 800+ hp and if the car is tied down correctly there will not be a problem--its on Mustang dynoes and they have rollers with the raised knurled type pattern for traction--
Only twice have we had to add any balast to the trunk to counter slippage and it was a 800+ Pontiac convertoble with no back seats and a lite rear half--

Never been a problem with a Cobra at the 5-600 hp range.
Your wasting your time changing tires and wheels
