Recommendation for car inspection in QLD

Hi All,

I have been looking at cars for sale and there are a few in Queensland that I have made enquiries about.

Can any Queenslanders suggest a company that performs vechile inspections with detailed reporting that is industry accredited?

If it costs me a few dollars, it will save me money in the long run.

Cheers

Sean, I have a guy who has done many pre-purchase inspections for me over the years, but if it is Cobra specific why not ask one of the constructors here to check it our for you - Venom or Harrisons?

Also I am not sure if a car complied in QLD will be accepted as is into SA.

That is the same for all States and Territories.

So you need to check if the engineer is recognised in SA (your home state), and if the vehicle has been modified since engineering.

Thanks for the comments....

Wow after discussing with 3 DTEI certifed engineers in SA it could cost between $3k to $5k to get engineering reporting performed and they do not rely on other states reporting which means I need to re-do all such reports if I want to have a smoother process.

I am probably preaching to the converted but why is not there a consistent certification across all states?

I am looking at 3 second hand cars at the moment ( 2 in QLD / 1 in Vic) so if anyone can suggest someone I can get to do vechile inspections it would be most appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks.

We all wonder why the differing States and Territories read the same ADR (Australian Design Rule) manual different.

Hey Sean,

Have a look on carsales.com.

Lately it seems like a new cobra for sale is appearing every 3 days.

Anyway, one just appeared from SA, mabey something to check out, use as a comparisson against others.... or it may be the one.

Cheers.

Hi Leroy,

Yes I have about 4 car webpages on the go at the moment (CarPoint / Justcars / Carsales / motoseller) .

The one I am keen on was certified in SA but registered in QLD so depending on the report (which I have asked a copy of) this will be my best option to get into a RWC car as soon as possible then I can make modifications gradually over time. The wife will give me less stress doing it this way but she secretly wants me to buy / build a new house to build a kit car as I dont have the garage space at the moment (I have my priorities in order?)

Merv has helped alot giving me some details of someone whom I can contact to do an inspection before I fly over to inspect myself.

Hopefully soon I will have a new addition to the family... Wife / two kids / dog / cat and the AC Cobra!!!
