Hi All,
Apart from me looking for a good second hand car (which is ongoing) I came across this recently. 2007 BACKDRAFT AC COBRA REPLICA - JUST Cars I am not particular to any specific engines / trans etc but just looking for any advice on engine specialists that people could refer so I can give them a call to discuss. Preferably in South Australia but if I look at this option (car is in QLD) could look at having someone in QLD do some work before bringing over to SA. Also if someone has this as apart of their business in real life, more than willing to contribute to the Australian Cobra Club community! I was going to get my brother to help with this stuff as he builds performance engines (and I was going learn as I went) but he is being a real d1ck so will do it myself. Note: I am unfortunately very aware of state lisencing requirements now so have a plan for how I will go about this. Douglass Potts whom is a registered engineer in SA is very helpful and has done many cobra's so will look to involve him if I go down this path. Thanks in advance for any responses. Sean |
Seems expensive for a non registered car with no engine and trans.....?

Engineering would be the killer

Guessing you could get it for 40, 10-15 for an engine and gearbox and your looking at 50-55 for a factory built brand new car. I dont think that is expensive at all (depending on what might have to be changed to meet local regs)
Engineering would be interesting - but would be handled I guess in the same way superformance does on the cars they bring in. The last one (superformance) I heard of trying to be registered in NSW, the guy (from Wollongong way i think) was told he was going to have to partly dismantle the car for photos and testing. Not sure how hes going with it now - had started the process this time last year (done emissions) , but I haven't heard from him in a while. Might be worth seeing if any superformance have gone through in SA and how it was done. |
just rang the guy who owns this car
he said they where put togetherby warren harrison & has a red 1 with a motor&box in it warren was racing it for him [ at 15k ]more so i would ring warren for all the info on the cars [ straight from the horses mouth] the owners name is yuri & lives in beaudesert[ 40kms outside of brisbane] hope this is a help rob |
Cheers for the above Rob.
Backdraft sell these chasis's for around $33k from memory so shipping / customs etc add around $7k. Engineering etc will cost approximately $5k, Motor / Trans around $15k The red one maybe a better alternative but I think I'll try and get a already registered one first then I can take it apart and spend money on it afterwards! Thanks |
