Here's what happens when you take speed and LSD before writing an Ebay ad...

Check out this Ebay ad for a very nice Mustang in the States. Marvel at the seller's ability to create a short and concise description of the car...!!!

eBay Australia: Buy new & used fashion, electronics & home dr

You'll probably not make it towards the end of the longest ad in recorded history, but this section is my favourite:
"V8 engine is Stock except it has a Big .513" Lift Racing CAM, Edelbrock NASCAR like Impressive "Torquer" intake & HUGE Long Tube Racing headers & Super Trick Exhaust system ...So like most all cars like this ....it Sounds a bit like a BREAST!... the car has the typical "Big Cam Effect"

Never mind the Big Cam Effect, I want to know how to make my car's exhaust sound like boobs...

Rob. Smith 09-20-2011 03:22 AM

I think he said it took 3+ years to restore (about 30 times) the + year was to write the add.

xb-60 09-20-2011 03:23 AM

No, I didn't read it anywhere near all the way through!
I have never ever seen an Ebay item approaching anything like that length
Cheers.
Glen

Wow I dont have time for that,It must have taken days to write all that.Next time im putting my boots on before I read it!

Laughed my ass off Craig!!, I was thinking the same thing!

As for the add, WTF??? Full of more **** than a showbag!! :JEKYLHYDE

All that useless info....(if you get to read it all)....would turn anybody off purchasing anything from this seller!

Not to mention, he has Dan Gurney winning the IROC series in 1970 and the first IROC race wasn't until 1973.

Snakebit 09-20-2011 06:29 AM

I thought the auction would be over by the time I got to the end!

James Stern 09-20-2011 06:49 AM

A true Blivet*.

* A Blivet is best described as "10 pounds of horse@@@@ in a 1 pound bag."

JBCOBRA 09-20-2011 08:43 AM

Just glancing at that ad was painful. Whoa

VintageUpgrades 09-20-2011 08:51 AM

This is the kind of ad the gives car restorers a bad name. I agree, that read was painful. Well, if you can't say anything good,.......... The exhaust tips are shiny (and HUGE).

David Hodgson 09-20-2011 04:51 PM

Incredible, pasted it into MS Word and got......

23 A4 pages

15,280 words

68,172 caracters

My year 8 daughter struggles with a 500 word assignment. Better get her some of that stuff he was on **)

tcrist 09-20-2011 05:29 PM

And after all of that stuff did you see the re-routed heater hose block off on the water pump. Guess the heater does not work or not there.

No I did not read through the whole thing to see if he mentioned that somewhere.

86Sebring 09-20-2011 05:38 PM

It seems the only resemblance to the original GT 500 is the lettering below the doors.
Is it just me or did the restorer forget to put on his glasses when aligning the fenders with the rest of the body?

Ralphy 09-20-2011 07:30 PM

LOL! Someone needs to ask him if would be a good daily driver. Then ask him how well it would handle in the snow. You know the guys gotta love that car.:JEKYLHYDE

He wants to torture people also, reading: "PLEASE, READ THIS AUCTION IN IT's Entirety BEFORE BIDDING..."
Ralphy

Jack ... right you are!

Could not wade thought all the text of the ad , but as pointed out … Gurney winning IROC in 1970 … not quite

I was at the IROC races in Riverside in October '73 … beautiful cars, great racing, quite a line up of drivers ...

- Donohue
- Unser
- Fittipaldi
- Pearson
- Follmer
- Foyt
- Revson
- Hulme
- Allison
- Petty
- Johncock
- McCluskey

- No Dan Gurney (not sure why, he was certainly qualified !)

- The first IROC race series was in Oct '73 & Feb 74 with Porsche Carrera RSR 911s, the Cameros (hardly a Ford) came in the next season in '74'/75 and there after (if I recall correctly).

Imagine if the Ebay website timed out while he was uploading the ad. I wonder if he would have retyped the whole thing???

JBo 09-21-2011 04:05 AM

Rob. Smith 09-21-2011 04:32 AM
