Shelbyfest 2011

Guys,

Heard at the Nationals that the Shelbyfest next year will be held on the weekend of the 23rd 24th 25th March.

Has there been any further discussions regarding tyres and classes for next years Shelbyfest. I am quite happy to run the slicks again and no doubt there will be more cars there next year running slicks.

Just trying to plan ahead if i need to get new semi slicks I will need to research and plan what i get as the Kumho's I am using are no longer available in those sizes from here or the USA.

And the talk was of track days only, so that could be good?
Just hope it does not lose its relaxed atmosphere, but I plan to be there.

It will be good to sort out the tire issue before we get there.

I know this issue left a uneasy feeling with the winners and loosers last time.

I like the motorkana, just not on loose gravel. Like Boxhead I worry that the event will loose its main attaction of being the eazy going relaxed weekend it is.

ShelbyFest 2012

Hi All,

The date has been set for ShelbyFest 2012. It will be held from Friday 23 -Sunday 25 March 2012. Accomodation has been organised at the Quality Hotel Wangaratta.

We are intending to sort out the classes / Tyres and therefore Supp regs in the next month. There has been a lot of discussion and debate about tyres and classes since the last event. It will be sorted out shortly so competitors can sort out their requirements.

The atmosphere wont change (I hope!!!), it will always remain a relaxed weekend. We wont run the motorkhana at the saleyards if the surface has not been sealed properly. Unfortunately we were only notified very late in this year's organisation that the area had been repaired. We were not aware that it was a loose stones repair and we had no alternatives.

Jason and I will look at some possible changes to Sunday and will let people know when we do. Having the track for two days is an issue due to cost and entry does not really cover this. There are other venues we can run motorkhana type events and these will be looked at.

Stay tuned for more information.

Cheers

Tony

Tony,
Thanks for that, regardless of tyre / class decisions i'll still be there with bells on. Bl00dy long 1 day drive tho....

Maybe we could ask the Motel if we could do the gymkhana in their basement car park???? I'm sure they would love that!

They growl at kids on scooters down there, kids in cobras would be frowned at too I'd say. :)

Thats what I like about the Motel. There is no way you could sleep in on the Saturday Morning when you hear that familiar rumble ecohing around in the basement

Gav 10-12-2011 03:39 AM
