This week the USA will be taking on the International team at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club, in Melbourne, Victoria Austrailia, with 5 Aussie players, along with the international team, led by Greg Norman, going against Tiger Woods and the US team, should be an exciting event, Good Luck international team, you will need it, Go USA.

This will NO DOUBT upset some

To paraphrase one well known American writer (i.e; Mark Twain)

GOLF ! now there's a good walk spoiled ! :3DSMILE:

It's up there with watching grass grow and paint dry :p

That being said, I can kinda understand why Cobra owners might like-err no- play a round of golf ! I reckon it reminds them why they own a Cobra-it's because they feel alive :D:LOL:

After all what is Golf spelt backwards............F L O G !
And only a canny Scot could come up with that name AND THEN charge people to play it !

I was a Golf Nut for many years.....

Couldn't get enough of it.

It has to be the most frustrating game......but when you play well, and as you improve it's addictive.

You start out hacking the ball all over the place...and then you catch a few in the sweet spot, and you start wanting more of that feeling.

Then you "Dream " of breaking 100......then it's 90.....and then 80......and all of sudden any day you shoot a score over 80 it breaks your heart.....because you always remember "THAT DAY" when you shot a par round, and now anything over par feels like you failed.

It also has a very strong moral thread running through the game.

The ones who "get it" when they become gold addicts...never cheat...and hate anyone who does.
It's a cool game and has MILLIONS of followers around the world...

Good luck to the Internationals....it's our turn to win.

Great game. I have to say that, of course, as I live on a golf course ....

My days of shooting 70's are well gone but the dream is still alive.

Go the Internationals! Should be a great comp with so many great players all attacking in match play.

boxhead 11-16-2011 03:00 AM

Good summarization Wazza.

I dont play at the moment, but when you hit a great shot or shoot a good score. It is a great feeling.

Best score for me has been a 74 on a par 71 course. Best feeling on a golf course was shooting my handicap at St Andrews 2 years ago (81 off the beater) with hire clubs and shoes.
I have managed 2 hole in ones (slam dunked one of em), watched a best mate hit 2 hole in ones in 1 round, watched another group of mates hit 2 hole in ones on the same hole in the same group. And had an albatross once (2 shots on a par 5) 2nd shot was z 3 wood into the hole.

Great, but frustrating game.....

Yes, I'm a golf tragic, got down to 9 earlier in the year but now have drifted out to 12. That's what happens when a job gets in the way. I play comps every Saturday but it's been a long time between drinks when it comes to the money end.

I play with some great guys so we do have a blast!

Go the internationals!!!

David Hodgson 11-16-2011 02:26 PM

Golf is like going round and round on a race circuit its kinda pointless, yet great fun and addictive, frustrating when things don't go right, .......but watching it is like watching cricket .......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!

Wazza 11-16-2011 02:53 PM

kinda pointless, yet great fun

and there it is !

I love to play golf with people and watch them completly go crazy when they hit a bad shot, they say how you act on the course is how you act in real life, we could see that with tiger woods. I woud love to golf in Australia one day.

I had the opportunity in Az. to drive a Kart with Danny, Hersh and two pros. it was a great day. Though I think the drink towers you guys have should flow beer!! The young guy following us with the drink kart was a novel approach.

I have not been tempted to play although I really enjoyed the day and the friendship shown. Mmmm perhaps I will become a caddy?.

Danny and Hersh are both my best friends although there twice my age, the reason I love cobras so much is because of Hersh, He actually helped me design the car I have now with the mod motor. We use to golf 3 times a week together for years.

WE LOST DAMN IT!!

Now I'll Brag.....As some of you guys know I own a small boutique golf course here on the Coast and I was gracious in accepting an invitation from one of our suppliers, Schweppes, to attend the Presidents Cup.

What a great few days hanging out down in Melbourne for Thurs and Friday's play with a bunch of Pros' who between them have played Royal Melbourne hundreds of times. I was escorted on a hole by hole tour by a pro who won a Merc with a hole in one during his professional years in the 80's, drank in the corporate tent with Craig Parry, Wayne
Grady, Ian Baker-Finch and Jack Newton.

Funnily, "Popeye" Parry who has won quite a number of International Majors, told of his dissapointment when he WON A GT40! Apparently he's into big boats, so he kept it for a while even giving it the local Florida Highway Patrol Cops for a spin then traded it on real estate......geeez.

fordracing65 11-19-2011 11:30 PM

Cool story, I would love to play golf there someday, that course looked so hard, the greens were flying fast, yea USA:) I remember Wayne Grady winning the PGA Championship live, its one of the few majors i've been to.

Great to hear you know Hersh and Danny. I want with them a few times. Cannot remember the golf course name, but it was their home course.

I have also been at a few of the Christmas parties at Hersh's and enjoyed the days - including the infamous launch pad.

HSVREDSLED 11-28-2011 02:25 AM

I have played for over 30 years. Won the State schoolboys as a 16 year old. 7 hole in ones, few vardon events, Junior and Senior Pennant wins over the years. Normally drift between 1 and 3 these days.

Have a few mates on the US tour and heaps on the Australian tour.

Good to see Greg Chalmo win the double. He hails from my home club and is a brilliant fella.

The course was Ahwatukee CC, If I remember correctly the last time you were here I was building my cobra, I think I was in your group that day, I hope all is going well, I talk with Hersh all the time, Ill tell him you said hi.

Yes that's it. There were about six of us in total. I half walked and rode the golf kart. Yes you may remember I did not play but went for the walk..

I have been talking with Hersh also. He has settled in well in the Texas area. I have been over to see him as well. He has a very nice set up there with a large home and a few guest cabins etc. on the site. Over time it will be a very nice property as he and Danny have been doing a lot of redesigning and clearing the land.
