Hi guys,
Looking forward to meeting you all. The weather forecast is looking pretty good (for the UK in September ;) ). My Cobra is back together again following open heart surgery and ready to go. We should be arriving on the campsite late Thursday afternoon. I'll be in a polished Kirkham #89. Paul |
We leave Portland tomorrow for our 3 day home in Funtington tomorrow. Will do a rece tomorrow night myself too.
What time do you guys suggest getting to the car parks each morning? Steve |

Box - Dad and I did the same thing today. We couldn't stay away from Goodwood... Did you go through Arundel to get there? How amazing is the Arundel Castle!?!?!
I couldn't get a postpaid sim card as I don't have a UK address for a credit check. The stores don't seem to have prepaid micro sims, so I might just stick with scamming free wifi at various pubs and restaurants. We're now in East Preston. Our plan is to get to the Goodwood carpark each day before it officially opens. I'd much prefer to queue up at carpark entrance for a while, than get stuck in a traffic jam miles away from the circuit because of leaving the hotel later |
Craig I got a regular sim & cut it down to suit the iPhone 4.... I had it done in Greece to... If you use your aust sim as a guide then it will work! Just cut it with scissors. My UK phone number guys is +44 (0)7594060719.
We are staying at a van park at Stonehenge tonight... Got here at 8 pm |
We are south of Goodwood, staying at Bracklesham bay, about 6 miles south.
I have parking allocation at Lavant carpark (there are about 4 different carparks) Ash, do you want a lift on Saturday night? Craig yes we Did see Arundal Castle, big sucker that one, we spent today at Hampton court palace. |

Great pics Boxhead looks like car heaven.

The Anglia (Angela) even has a Cobra connection! Used to be owned by Nigel Hulme, and raced at the Revival regularly, who owned the Le Mans Cobra 39PH, plus several other Cobras. He now imports Superformance cars into the UK.

Wow, what a weekend.
Nothing was ever going to top yesterday, it was such an unbelievable sight watching and hearing so many angry Cobra's (& Daytona). I have plenty ofsecent pics I will post when back in Australia, so here come some more iPhone pics, no order again, but I will try and add a description. One of the stalls was a fella selling pictures and a book containing some of his images, he would also add a quick sketch of whatever car you wanted on the inside cover, well I had a picture of my cobra in my phone, so he sketched that one for me. Here is his book. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...AE835B5D8D.jpg Here is the picture he copied. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...ictures/73.jpg And here is his 5 minute sketch. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...AE7C2F3ABF.jpg So know I have my own little momento from the weekend. I had always wanted to get a leather flying cap and goggles, but needing prescription glasses always thought I would need to get contact lenses, well I found this company who sells the goggles with room to have prescription lenses fitted inside, so when I get home, the aero screen will go back in for a while. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...AE8C3DD80C.jpg Thi was for sale, has a seat inside so you can sit in there and drive it around, electric drive motor. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...AE9351B61D.jpg Some planes. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...AE9C0C8A3A.jpg http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...AEAA7AB17E.jpg http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...AEA37236A6.jpg http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...AEB115FACD.jpg http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...AEB81109BF.jpg http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...AEBEDBE158.jpg This w a sight to cherish, Lancaster bomber flanked by a pair of Spitfires. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...AFE460BE00.jpg |
On Saurday night, a few Aussies caught up with some of the 289 registry guys for a feed and a drink, forgot to get many pics, but here are a couple.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...D826B79E-1.jpg http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...AECFF320F4.jpg Crappy zoomed iPhone pic. I promise better to follow. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...AF13C81345.jpg http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...AEEED210C3.jpg http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...AEFAC02510.jpg http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...AF05265978.jpg A few Dan Gurney cars. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...AE75A5664B.jpg http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...AE69C6514C.jpg http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...AE615E76AE.jpg http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...AE5A421546.jpg |
I will also add that Ronda is keen to return next year, may have to find a WWII Australian Army/Airforce clothing, or old racecar mechanics overalls.
|
Good work guys.... would love to have been there ... along with the sound at the track... the sound in the air... and the sights.
Very envious. |
Great pics Dave, it looks to have been an awesome weekend.
So do you want that leMans top now? |
