AC replicas designted as Low Volume Production vehicles
 
Hi ACC Members,

I was having some difficultly with NSW determinations for ICV certification requirements so thought that I would come at this from a different angle.

Is anyone aware which AC replica manufacturers outside of those kits designated as an ICV are considered as Low volume Production vehicles.

The reason I ask is that an LVPV has a compliance plate and usually all relevant VIN Information that can circumvent a somewhat convaluted Engineering certification compliance requirement within the state of NSW.

I understand that the Robnell replicas and the Snakepit AC Coca Cola replicas had this determination and do not require any further engineering compliance (unless additionally modified) but was interested in which other AC replicas also have this designation to avoid the ICV obstacle coarse.

Not quite... Low volume gets you a VIN more easily, but the RTA/RMS still own the registration process. Low volume would have all the relevant paperwork for you though.

You still need an certifier approval though.

Now if the LVPV llready has a VIN from a previous rego interstate or otherwise...I am assuming we then head down the Blue slip road if all the Object quality evidence (ie paperwork) is in place%/

I didnt know that the Robnell cobras had compliance plates, I thought the only complance plated replicas were the Coca Cola cars, I own one of the 12 Coke cars and was told 13 cars were built in total including one that was written off in the crash testing and certification process. There is no extra paper work with these cars, all paperwork would be held with the relevant authorities that were dealt with during the construction i guess, there is also no engineering papers or anything else with these cars, these cars on the face of it are no different to any other production vehicle.

Once it is issued a VIN as a low volume it is then just like any other car.

Someone said a while back that early RMC cobras had low volume approval, but i dont know for sure.

If you are buying a second hand car and can find one with rego for your state you shouldnt have any trouble. If you buy interstate, make sure it has not been modified from how it was approved (eg, no changes to exhaust, padding removed, wind wings etc.)

Completely true. Apologies for giving any other impression. Low volume makes it the same from a registraion view point as a mass manufactured vehicle.

Registration should be as simple as for a commodore or falcon.

ICV's from interstate are a touch more complicated, but the applicable ADR's are the ones at the date of manufacture, not at the date you try to rego it in NSW. If it was made in 1995, then it's the 1995 ADR's not the 2011 (or near enough 2012) ones.
