Water is like electricity, it will take the path of least resistance. Having the inlet and outlet on the bottom with no internal snorkel and with the added effect of gravity, the water will want to short circuit and not utilise the core effectively. This is the main reason for having the water flow to a diagonaly opposite corner.

Where is your fill point?

Towmaster,

Thinking just after exit from the motor, into an external polished fill bottle, then off down to the radiator.

I havent decided to actually do anything yet, just playing with ideas, trying to make servicing, accessability simple and tidyness built in as i go.

I'm open to all ideas, willing to learn as i go.

Dave
