I have unfortunately been to two garages where owners have these #ucker Cobras. I was contacted for some advice and assistance.

My initial offer was based on the assumption that the cars were a kit, but was surprised to see doors in pieces, trunk lids and bonnets in pieces. Not to mention very basic chassis.

Both owners received what they paid for a body and chassis kit - but hell neither thought that they were going to get a trailer load of basic pieces.

#uckers trades under the name of Venom and I often see repetitive adds offering his bodies and chassis in Unique Cars etc.

Let me say having built two Cobras and rebuilt a GT40 these #ucker Venom kits are very basic and not worth the dollars paid.

Sjelby - you are not alone. Pass on the word to all.

Is this the Venom that has BMW suspension parts and is from South Africa.

There was a new (burned) Venom on eBay a few years ago advertised as like a Backdraft.

It was burned before it was completed. I found out in time.

boxhead 05-02-2012 05:10 PM

Rpatton3,
No this is by a supplier in Victoria Australia.

rpatton3 05-02-2012 05:56 PM

I think there was a 3 series BMW based roadster from South Africe that is no longer in business. 92" wheelbase like Backdraft.

They were Venom and they're gone.

Thanks for the clarification.

BMK 05-06-2012 08:12 PM

I met Tony Martin at Midstates at a Run N Gun a few years back.

Tony as well as being a well know motor racing identity is the Principal of Backdraft cars.

If Tony is still a Principal in the business he will be found in Sth Africa.

He has a very high quality Cobra kit and a large number of excellent distributors throughout the USA etc.

One or two of these cars have found their way to Australia and I have seen them advertised. Like all import Cobras they need to go through a tough engineering process.

Venom as used by #ucker is not associated with any other business.

Spread the news guys these rip off artists need to be stopped !!!
Im quite surprised no one has been BANNED from the forum for speaking the truth about Dave, Jamo must be asleep ???????

BMK 05-09-2012 07:22 PM

Don't think Jamo is asleep..%/

There is a separate area to start Threads of Post regarding suppliers etc. but as this is an Australian issue I feel the Moderators allow a little slack with Threads or Posts that fall within our circumscribe -Australia.

As this is a so called "business" that affects Australians only, it probably fits/falls within the guidelines.

However, if the Thread became abusive or headed in the direction of libel, no doubt the Moderators would close or give appropriate advice on Forum guidelines.

I agree with comments made, that is if this business is selling sub standard or not delivering it should be highlighted and as many as possible made aware of him.

Baz 05-10-2012 01:52 AM

I may be wrong, but didn't Venom build a car for Michael Schumacher a few years ago?

Baz

boxhead 05-10-2012 02:35 AM

That was Python, and from what I know it went to his head.

BMK 05-15-2012 05:40 PM

Guys if you have been caught out it may be worth while to start a Thread where people who have been caught out and then start an action against him. A group action would take very little in dollar cost if everyone tipped in. He cannot duck or weave a civil action.

I have over the last ten years seen and heard so much about this person and it Is a real concern that new enthusiasts are caught in his trap...

BMK 05-15-2012 10:17 PM

I just received an email and it appears that this guy has been doing this for over 15 years...

Mmmm perhaps a few customers could get together and call in to see him for a coffee..:MECOOL:

Seriously this needs to be addressed as the person who emailed was quite upset at what has happened to him.

This is not what our hobby is about.

boxhead 05-16-2012 01:01 AM

I know some guys who know some guys who are happy to "allegedly" cause body injuries.

BMK 05-16-2012 03:23 AM

I am thinking more along the lines of facing half a dozen of customers that he let down.

Looks like he's moving on to shafting the truckies with some of his stuff.

justcobra 07-25-2012 11:16 PM

I sympathies with all concerned and David Tucker owes me a promised refund of $500 for a kit purchased couple years ago.The kit consisted of a body and chassis which was advertised on ebay and allegedly meets ADR / VSB14 and other requirements according to the advertisement.
Countless emails and getting the small claims to negotiate with Mr David Tucker proved useless.
David Tucker has changed his ebay merchants name and I like to know the reason.
David tucker promised a refund but this has not happened
The refund will only occur when he had to sell my kit.
It is alleged that he made a loss on the sale of my kit.
Therefore forum members -caveat emptor.
when dealing with this gentleman..

Gav 07-25-2012 11:33 PM

Good luck on that one, if he 'only' owes you $500 I'd say you got off lightly.

justcobra 07-26-2012 12:45 AM

Yep- Got off lightly but I am astonished how much interest is in this topic
