Dont tell me, with all your high performance cars, that you have NEVER got a bit excited with your right foot on a public road somewhere, sometime in your driving history.

My family has been'' TOUCHED BY THE ROAD TOLL'' my brother in law was killed by a drunk driver, on a valentines day, so dont try and pull that one on

YES..sure I've got a little excited over the years but I've also learnt and changed my driving as well in line with the laws in our NANNY STATE!!!...1 fine in 26 yrs and that was for 4 k over going past a speed camera!!!
These laws are being applied because Mr 200SX or Mr VL Turbo continue to flaunt the laws regardless of the police presence and the regular fatalities caused by them and others!!

Your correct your new laws won't bother me ,yeah they're harsh but the 99.9% MAJORITY of drivers won't ever be concerned about its harshness they in fact will support it...and they won't bother you if you don't f@ck up!!!

As for the "TOUCHED BY THE ROAD TOLL" card ,I'll play that card every time to get the point across......I'll trump you I lost a BROTHER to a f@rked up drunk who T-BONED his car speeding through and running a red light!!

My issue is not with the condoning of public indecency but the severe punishment when compared to the some alternative forms of indecency.

I dare say more innocent are killed, property damaged etc... by drunk drivers than those irritatingly squeaking their wheels in at a traffic light.

I feel it more inconsiderate and dangerous to my fellow man to operate a vehicle while even slightly intoxicated than to spin the wheels at the traffic lights for instance, even if out the front of my joint in the dead of the night.

Surly, crushing of cars should apply to anyone drink driving or drug driving way ahead of anyone spinning their wheels.

Unfortunately there's a bunch of teenagers in these cars not just the driver who's showing off, not to mention other road users, so that argument is spurious

I feel the crushing of cars - not sure if it actually happens - is one of the most ridiculous things/laws I have heard.

If we crush cars that are roadworthy or able to be roadworthy this is in itself a crime.

My Rotary club just donated many hours and dollars assisting a single Mum with a sick child get herself mobile after some low life stole her only means of transport.

This Mum who had already experienced the sudden death of her partner is faced with frequent visits to the metropolitian childrens hospital.

Our club was approach to help her as she had insurance but did not have full comphrehensive. Her car a Ford was destroyed. We purchased a similiar car for her and club members fixed it up..

Total of 100 hours was spent on re carpet, re paint and removing rust etc. The local stereo shop donated a unit. Our local Tyrepower supplied and balanced wheels and tyres.

The look on her face was worth it when the car was handed over. It was humbling to be part of it all.

Put simply - if we have a Government or a Police Force that are taking cars off the street and then crushing them, when there are so many genuine people out there that would give everything to have a car. We have a bigger problem than I thought.

These so called HOON cars could be quickly made roadworthy and given to deserving people.

We have another older lady who travels to hospital weekly for kidney treatment and her car is in need of replacement.

I dont think the wider general qld public know of it yet, not that they will care.

The new 30 yr old attorney general is obviously not a car guy, he must have had a bad experience growing up in rednecksville.

The silence is deafening from nearly all of my qld fellow cobra enthuists on this topic, most of the responses have been from southerners, they must be embarrased because they voted for this mob, either that or they think this is going to be a great law to benefit society.

It will only take 1 cobra crushed up here, and then wait for the cresendo.

What does it tell you about a new government, with all of the problems out there in society, that this is one of the first things on their agenda to pass parliament.

Hey Tom, to reduce the silence, I do agree. However, with a brother who is a sergeant in Traffic Branch, I am bit more 'relaxed' that the usually cutting edge of policing - discretion - will still apply. This new Government is on watch on many fronts as the law and order' mentality plays out, for political purposes.

What is described is the maximum penalty. Do you know how many murders there are where the guilty person receives less than the maximum penalty? In this case a hefty maximum penalty will have a cautionary effect, and there will be less hooning.

Police discretion, a court hearing, and judges discretion/verdict will almost certainly mean that if a car is to be crushed, it will be DESERVED. As has been pointed out, down here in Vic car crushing has been in place for years, yet there have been very few cases (half a dozen or less I believe). Don't panic, for any judge to deliver the maximum in this case it will be deserved.

Im not sure why your all hyped up Tom. Breaking traction shouldn't be a problem for your car. :)

I just came home from a "Car Park" event. Held at a pie shop car park. Turn up with what you got and have a look. A fair amount of mullets, rats tails and funny goatees. Turned out to be a bunch of nice guys. Being a rainy night the attendance was down but the cars there were very respectable. A couple of Hot-rods, three or four XU1s an EK panel, a 383 Walkinshaw replica Commodore that set off all the alarms and several american muscles..Corvette, Camaro and a Mustang. There was just talk and look. No burn outs or ratbag action. Verry impressive to have all types of auto tastes together without any prejudice. This should occur more often everywhere.

Too young to listen to talkback Tom, not sure if my radio even gets AM. Dont like any of them much, but youd be in the minority thinking the labour party is doing a decent job anywhere in Australia. I think Barry O'farrel has been a dud so far just quitely, but he a decent Roads minister at least.

We need labor & liberal in government, it's a balancing act.
Labor will be all about the people & spend / waste all the massive mining tax monies on failed dams, water schemes & try to work out how to waste a billion $ on a medical payroll system that didn't work. Time for the liberals to come back in to get the state back in the black so Labor can take over & spend the money again... It's all about balance really... ;)

I agree Ash. A symbiosis really - the Conservatives, tax and reduce government services, save and privatise, build the defence forces and send us to the odd war and the Socialists spend, try to build big things, create debt and bring troops home and so the circle goes round and round. Maybe the awful truth is we need them both at times.

These 'meets' start off just as described above, then word gets around. After a while unfortunatly as numbers increase, so does the idiots that inevitably ruin it for all.
