This Volvo won't die!
A US man will soon celebrate an unusual milestone, his car is about to hit 3 million on the odometer.
That number can take you around the world more than 1500 times. Seventy-two-year-old Irvin Gordon held the Guinness world record in 2002 for highest mileage in the same car. He remains the record holder to this day, but will soon set a new record. Mr Gordon bought the red Volvo in 1966 for just over four thousand dollars. He takes regular car trips travelling to more than 6 US states a month. He believes in taking care of his car and won't allow anyone else to drive it. Telstra BigPond News and Weather I wonder if I will live long enough to get that milage on the Cobra! Doug |
Impressive numbers, and the car still looks to be in good condition.
Perhaps more impressive is the journalist's grasp of maths. 1500 times around Earth = 37,351,500 miles... ;) |
Must have been a ACA reporter?

Merv, I was actually thinking it looked a bit like a boat - no coincidence that Pelle Petterson went on to become an award-winning yacht designer!

Yes and he admits he never owned one of his most famous car designs, the P1800
