Custom made drive shaft suppliers?
I need to have a pair of short drive shafts made for my GM diff (and CVs) installation. The original shafts narrow in dia along the length so they cannot be shortened. I have heard good reports about Boznjak Engineering (15 Blackfriar Pl Wetherill Park NSW 2164) but I would be interested to hear of other suppliers - even interstate if the postage is reasonable. Thanks.

Hi Peter,
I can recommend BPM Drive Shafts in Cromer. BPM Driveshaft Specialist He did my half shafts and i will also be getting my drive shaft there in the next few weeks. He builds hot rods on the side also so is no stranger to custom made vehicles. |
Warrick Harrison uses an engineering business in Labrador for his cars, sorry can't remember the name. Try giving him a call.

Albins in Ballarat will make any length CV shaft to suit CV joints, that said there should be an off the shelf one that would probably suit.
Commodore CV shafts share a common -- M10 x 94 pcd (6) / CV with the 930 Porsche for eg. --which is probably the output flange of the diff ---so what are you using for the wheel hub ?? |

Thanks for the replies. I've followed up BPM and Harrison but no joy - I'll try Albins tomorrow.
I really doubt I will find an 'off-the-shelf' shaft as I only require them to be 345mm. Also GM CVs can be fixed or floating and each has a different spline. I want to use floating CVs on each end so it's a rather specialised request. I machined an adaptor for the outer CV. |
Metropolitan Driveshafts did a great job for me and were fast.

Peter, checked our shafts here and the nearest shaft length we have is 325mm. Just on the short side, they were left over from a project, so the price would be right. Then we jump to around 400mm.
Will also run floating CV's on each end, so no problem there. Also same CV PCD you are using. Can you drop me your contact details via PM or email as we could quote you on some custom made shafts. We supply custom length shafts all the time. I also would like to confirm the way you are measuring the shafts to check the length will be correct, I expect it is, but worth checking all the same. |
Thanks Craig - e-mail sent.

I can recommend Boznjak Engineering They custom made mine...I cut a pair of stock ones and welded them back together then had Terry make new ones the same length
Did a great job |

With the heat treatment and shot peening where they easy to weld? Did you turn a spigot and drill a hole to align the two halves? |
