Bonnet (hood) hinges?
1 Attachment(s)
Any advice welcome.
How precise should the pivot fit be - a bearing? Are there universal fit off-the-shelf hinges available in Oz - it's a GTO? What needs to be considered in terms of fit, functionality and durability? I was thinking of something along the line of those in the photo Thanks |
Peter, mine appear to be a bolt through a piece of metal tube welded to some radiused rod. Given these aren't door hinges or clutch pivots, is durability that much of a concern?
|
I was thinking of durability in terms of vibrations creating wear on the pivot and the edge of the bonnet chafing on the guards, etc. I'm probable just 'over-thinking', yet again.

My hinges are mounted on a cross bar that pivots on axles attached to each engine bay side wall. RMC. This was supplied as a "slip fit".. 'basic' and I thought Bodgey. I have fitted needle bearings and a few spacers. It works very nicely now.
