I've got a tin of it that's about 20 yrs old. It's like treacle and never really sets. When you remove an old gasket it's still sticky. It is excellent on radiator hoses...just a smear and the hose slips on easy and after a short time it's sticky and sealing. Never a problem removing the old hose either. Also stopped the alloy neck from corroding. It used to be used on English WW2 aircraft engines.
