Are we talking the DOD/AFM lifters or normal lifters?
|
normal. I also hear that new LS3's are coming with AFM hardware even though in AU HSV does not enable it. No doubt those will be even worse.

It is nice to hear a conversation about a Chevy engine in a Cobra ( or any other project) without the "FORD ONLY IN A COBRA" chorus shouting at you! Today the lineup of GM engines with their performance, durability, weight, price and after market support and R&D ,GM is the better choice. Unless you are a Ford guy then by all means use a Ford. To use a Ford to try to make your replica a "Real One" is just dumb! Unless it was made by Shelby American, it will be simply a HotRod that has the shape of a Cobra! So use the best engine for your skill and price range.

I hope they have the "valve-drop" problem fixed with this next gen engine... It's killing motors left 'n right on the LS7s and the LS9s.
|
Is this just a new engine problem? Does the Ford Coyote have similar problems?

DOD/AFM is even worse. I've yet to see a lifter fail BUT the AFM lifter guide is crap and allows the lifter to rotate WHEN the guide fails. Once that happens, you lose that cylinder, it's engine out for camshaft etc replacement. |
