Mustang 4.6L Starter - source!

Hi All,

Can anyone give us a lead on where we could source a Mustang 4.6L starter motor. We have a Boss 260 5.4L quad going into our project but it requires the alternate starter to be relocated to oposite side of the block and direction. We have the relocation mount kit and instructions and just need to source a starter. I would prefer to just source one locally in Brisbane and/or SE Qld if anyone can give us a suggestion. I have tried a couple or wreckers but have come up empty.

Regards

It's a bit far south but Castle Auto electrics list one on their web page/
www.caenterprises.com.au - The CAE PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS pages lists our Catalogue and Products.

Hi Sideshow,

The 5.4L starter is different, it mounts on the passenger side of the bellhousing and points backwards and wont fit in the DRB. DRB have a pretty major mod of an adaptor plate and few bits so that it takes the 4.6L bolt pattern and points forward on the driver's side. It is a little complicated but doesn't look too hard even to me. Just requires a bit of a mod to the bellhousing.

While I could no doubt buy many parts for the project cheaper OS, I am not a mail order kind guy. I like to walk in with my cash and walk out with my parts in my hand and start bolting it together. At the end of the day however I will probably end getting some bits that way!!!

Regards

I used to be that way too but the savings you get from ordering online have convinced me otherwise.

You might also want to have a look at this thread.
