Electric water pumps
Hi all,
Any body had experiences with electric water pumps, pro's / con's I'm looking to simplify the belt system on my LS and the electric pump option is one consideration. i.e like Meziere or similar brands regards Dave |
I have been thinking about the same.
Other option is the Stewart clockwise rotation water pump. Then do what Phil did with the orphan and run a gilmer drive. I like this option for the crank/w-pump/alt belt for simplicity and old school look. Stewart/Wegner Pro Series: Stewart Components, Inc. |

Phils is exactly the look. I saw a hotrod at Pakenham last week "New Years Day Run" Had an LS3 with an electric Meziere pump on it, the free wheeling pulley had been replaced with a free wheeling toothed belt pulley, looked perfect. Just dont know about the electric pump thing though. Dave |
Davies Craig is good although I had a bad experience with one of their set up's. Infact is not all that bad. I fitted their pump and controller to a GT40, it kept the Girl cool but would blow a fuse at the worst times. When the fuse blew I had no thermo fan or waterpump. It blew when the car was being road tested for rego which was a pain and failed the car due to overheating.
In fairness to DC they replaced the pump and controller. Problem went away. I think they had a bad batch or similar. |
Im running a csr electric pump on the big block..... I set it up with a turbo timer...you can set how long you want it to run for after you turn the engine off Ive got the thermo fan connected as well it runs for 30 seconds after you turn off the engine this stops the water boiling in the heads and stops water being pushed into the bottle

thats a great ideal with the timer. Albany I looked at the DC pumps, they are remote fit by the looks, i would have to make or find some adapters to mount to the block to replace the factory pump, but this could make way for a custom fill tank and overflow spot. I do like the look of a belt though, conventional look. Dave |
PhilN was working on a electric water pump for his car for quite a while - cant remember if he ever got it sorted. He might reply if he is out of therapy.....:)

Go for a direct mount pump they keep everything looking smart
