Electrical problem - not cobra
Hey guys,
Seeking so assistance if any electricialy smart people can help. For a 2007 Honda Euro. I know that this is a cobra forum however hopefully someone may have encountered something similar. Today the right indicators failed to work, the left work fine and as normal. When I press the hazard only the left work and no right. Flash speeds are normal. When I lock the car with a keyfob all indicator lights (both left and right) flash and car locks normal. When I unlock the car all lights flash normal. Fuses are all o.k and the bulb connections are all normal as well. So I know its not the bulbs, could this be a flasher unit. I understand that its not a relay as the left side is flashing normal. Also I read about the door lock actuator failing and effecting the indicators however the doors are locking and unlocking with no issues. Thanks in advance for any assistance. |

I wouldnt think it was the flasher can as the can is switched between left or right circuits, so its the same can used for both.
Regarding the Hazard they often just switch both left and right circuits in to the same flasher can. Regarding the scenario when both left and right flash with your key fob, I know in my case that is driven by the imobbiliser and not the flasher can. To me, it sounds like your indicator stalk is not switching in the right hand circuit to the flasher can. My 2 cents worth only. Cheers Gregg |
Take to dealer.
As mentioned no flasher cans any more, some are controlled by cluster, some are controlled by BCM. Most have a little speaker in teh dash that emites a "flasher can" style noise. |

Not my Honda.
But we had a cool change blow in overnight, Today will only be 34 and tomorrow 32 with predictions of rain. If we dont hit 40 today, that will be the first day since boxing day under 40. |

There is a relay looking unit (looks like a relay) under the dash where the 'tinks' comes from which is not active when keyfob is used to unlock or lock/imobilise. Really brings me back to the stalk. Will try a dealer and see. Cheers. |
Before you spend money, try what worked for me. I had the same issue on a Ford Taurus. I Googled the problem and saw several instances where people with the same problem sprayed WD40 or electrical contact cleaner into the Emergency Hazard switch. Especially when the Hazard switch is mounted on top of the steering column or dash where dirt and dust can settle into it and foul the contacts. I didn't disassemble anything, just sprayed contact cleaner into the switch a few times. It worked for me. Good luck.

Push the hazard switch on and off about 50 times
And then press hazards on and leave n of afew minutes Even if one side only works u just want the hazard flashing to work the contacts Tis might help Otherwise download the workshop manual for the car Being a Honda should be easy to find and see how the wiring goes |
For anyone that is interested, went to the dealer and they said that is would be a wiring fault and needed car for 1/2 day to check and do diagnostics .
I am not prepared to believe that it is this complicated. A new flasher can/relay from Honda was going to be $90-, a replacement stalk $230-. FFS.... Really! So I got hold of a wiring diagram and saw what goes to the flasher (6 connections) so I was jumping connections and saw that on different connection either the right side or the left side lit up. Therefore I believe it was the flasher can. Visit to wrecker and $10- later for a flasher can, plugged in and all works perfect. Thanks for all suggestions and ideas , I tried them all but didn't want to spend the coin...... Spending is for the fun car. |
