AfterMarket EFI, IGNITION AND ECU KITS FORD 5.0 HO

Hi All,

Looking at some After-market options for EFI, Ignition and ECU kits ATM.

Checked the search function but could not really find what I was after.

I am after a kit Local in Aust the same as the Edelbrock 35210 Pro-Flo 2 Electronic Fuel Injection Kit for the Ford small block 5.0 HO

http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_...ages/35410.jpg

Edelbrock.com - Electronic Fuel Injection - Pro-FloŽ 2 - Ford

or

289, 302, 5.0 Mass-Flo EFI System for Small Block Fords

289, 302, 5.0 Mass-Flo EFI System for Small Block Fords - FORD - Mass-Flo EFI Systems

Available from a local distributor...or even a reliable US supplier if none in Aust. Hoping there is still a US exemption under free trade agreement for importing automotive parts from the US, as import duties over the grand are extortion.

No luck at Rocket Ind, so appreciate any good intel out there.

Cheers Adam.

As long as the supplier can clearly state that it was made in the US I think you should only be up for GST.

Cheers

Thanks Mike, anyone you would recommend dealing with locally or abroad?

Gav 02-18-2013 11:57 PM

Summit are the go.

ICETOO 02-19-2013 12:01 AM

Thanks Gav, have read a lot of good things about Summit

Aussie Mike 02-19-2013 12:01 AM

I've had nothing but good experience with Summit in the US. They have free ground shipping on their web page but it may pay to get on the phone with them and find out the details. Pretty good price for the whole kit too.

Cheers Mike,Spot on what I am after.

Now to get some time to make it all happen.

Summit are great, but shipping is bloody expensive.

Dimis 02-19-2013 01:45 AM

I'd probably do this another way.
I'd go to the guys fitting & tuning it, and ask them what their familiar with and what they can make work. Else all the savings you make at one end might be quickly chewed up at the other end.

Either way best of luck with the project.

ICETOO 02-19-2013 02:17 AM

Sure. get what you are saying, was looking at the DIY option, hence the whole kit.

OK, best bet will be shop around and see what a speed shop will quote for similar, vs import, govt fines (ahem ) taxes, and DIY savings. If the speed shop is less than a grand more, they got it, thats 200 bux an hour I am paying out, but what do you value your own time at...could be the hardest grand ever saved myself, if bits are missing!

Merv and Sharon 02-19-2013 02:56 AM

I went with Summit and worked from a 'wish list' I was given and then called up on Skype and ordered all the 302 bits directly (Twisted Wedge stuff - heads, cam, rockers, rods, cam drive, filter cover, etc.

Then I called up MasFlo EFI and ordered a partial system as I had several of the necessary bits (such as the A9L EEC and TPS). They are great to deal with at Sales and it is good to chat about these things as they have the reputation and long experience (after Sales can be a bit different ...). They also provided the programmed chip to suit the Summit set up I had decided on. It is normally designed to be pretty much plug and play.

Two other guys here are doing the same thing now.

Just fit an ls1 ecu to it
Hehehehehe

Or just buy a manifold and fit injectors and fuel rails and efi fuel pump
And just fit a Haltech ecu or a vipec or any other good ecu or whatever
Your tuner is best at tuning

Not many places in Australia use or sell the pre tuned plug and play stuff
Let alone know how it all works or any pros and cons
Rocket might sell similar stuff but if its new technology they probably aren't clued
Up on all the workings of each product.
Like a lot of shops these days they import stuff and sell em without knowing much about it
Then when u have issues they pass the buck so talk to people who have used the product not just sold it

Merv and Sharon 02-20-2013 03:15 AM

That is why MasFlo continues to be successful

I just flew down to Sydney to wire up a landcruiser with a late model diesel motor and
I was chatting to the boss and he said he contemplated buying a dyno but he didn't because
He talks to the guy he buys the chips off and says look don't say they are programmable
I just want to plug it in wire up afew wires road test it and give it to customer

I've 5 to 10 years a lot of stuff will be pretuned and just plug in
Look at the new stuff from the USA.
That's y I'm getting into diagnosing as that's where the future is
