And you call LS engines ugly...

They're pretty big and chunky (and expensive) for 540hp...
I took an F6 ute for a drive on the weekend. With some mild and reliable mods, the little 4.0L motor was making just over 500hp at the tyres through a 6sp auto. Somebody needs to put one of these in a Cobra!

If I was spending that kind of money I'd be going the LS7 route. The same or more HP with a lot less complexity.
Cheers

Craig,
Remember Rowan Meakins VL Turbo powered Cobra??
It was a bit of a weapon when it wasn't fowling plugs!!!

That's a good idea Craig, if you never want to sell it. Pity that 5.4 is a cast iron block as the 2011 alloy is over 100 lb lighter.

;) Yep, I know. This ute was for sale. Right price, HEAPS of power, etc, but without the rumble and the character, it felt boring. AnXR6T Cobra would be fast on a racetrack, but it would sound pretty odd on the street...

One of the Factory Fives in Perth has this engine. It is a tight squeeze, but it fits, and boy, it sure does go ......

Mike, pretty convincing argument with the LS7. It is such a great engine package and in our experience responds well to some tuning. In the past 5 years I don't think we have gone a day without having something in the shop that is either powered by or going to be powered by an LS7. And you can't beat the sound of 427 with cubes with over 500HP+. Just ask Wazza...

Couldn't agree more. The Coyote is also smaller, cheaper to fit thanks to Ford Racing parts support and just better in most respects.
Nice find though Greg, I have an old Ford truck that would be a perfect home for it.

Looks good Greg and preserves the Ford/Cobra connection that seems to help re-sale for many. The old big blocks still look the best IMHO.

I've got a LS3 with a harrop blower and the thing is incredible and so easy to drive. Gave 417kW at the wheels at 5300 after that there was a fuel issue where we couldn't get enough fuel to it even with a bosch 044 pump.
extremely happy with it, and it looks better than the ford blower too.
