Well not many updates so far. The car is still sitting in the garage awaiting a heart transplant. No luck in sourcing an acceptable donor vehicle as yet, just waiting for the right one at the right price. Have bought a second 044 fuelk pump and currently making some brackets to mount the whole lot up. It runs 2 completely separate fuel systems. 2 x Holley Red lift pumps and 2 x Bosch 044 motorsport fuel pumps. One of each as a main and the other 2 as a reserve. The main 044 high pressure pump draws fuel halfway up the surge tank (it's about 40cm tall), the second (reserve) pump draws fuel from the bottom, effectively giving them about a 4 litre reserve.

Anyways I have found a video of the car from the last team it was raced with. Mine is the all blue #40 car.

Cant wait to get it all up and running!!

So........................
Now the fun begins, I have bought a donor car.
Got it from the damaged vehicle Auctions in Newcastle.
It's a 2011 VE series 2 SS ute (in blue of course!)
Bit of a mystery.... It has a 'next service due 15,000klm' sticker on the windscreen.
Stolen and Recovered...... Statutory Write off.....
Only things wrong with the vehicle.... 4 missing wheels, missing stereo, smashed passengers window, wires to fuse box cut.... That's it! I can't believe they Called it an 'unable to be registered again' Statutory write off.....
6 speed manual TR6060, good for 700ft/lbs apparently...Motor is an L77, unfortunately with AFM, which will need to be deleted...

Deleting the AFM is a perfect excuse for fitting a nice cam and valve spring package. I still can't believe how much power these make with just a cam, springs and a tune.

Did you buy the ute online, or were you down there for the auction?

Some places are offering drive in drive out kits with the following
CNC Higgins heads
cam etc fitted
fully tuned
Some are claiming as much as 500 rwhp.... most between 450-500
$5700.....
Bloody cheap!!!!
Needless to say it should have at least 450rwhp..... with a dry sump

Mate I bought it online .... nervous times.... particularly because it was a Stat and there didn't seem much wrong with it...

It perplexes me sometimes the reasoning that insurance companies have when it comes to write offs. Anyway, your gain.

You really have got it for blue cars, thats for sure.

Solid motor and cheap to get some good power out of, nice work.

dhs.buckley 07-06-2013 03:27 PM

if the fuse box wires are cut, can you start it? i cant imagine how they stole it and got the engine going, must be some smart cookies that are thieves.
I remeber removing the radio from my ss and replacing with an SSV radio, then the car wouldnt start, and needed to be reprogramed to make it start.

sideshow 07-07-2013 05:00 AM

prob not to hard to get car started and running
remove and fit my reflashed ecu
get a wire and power up ecu another to power injectors and coils
and one wire to get starter to crank engine all done from under the engine bay
and wolla it might start but as ive never tried it im not 100% sure
and ive never tried to thieve a car because if anyone tried to thieve one of my cars even though they are std toyotas I would gladly pull the trigger while aiming at their faces heheheheh

sideshow 07-07-2013 05:04 AM

pity u cant repair it and sell it for a lot more
would prob take an hour to repair that cut plug as I have afew of them
then fit another radio and repair broken bits

L76

Ash,

The DODS (Displacement On Demand System) can be drilled and filled, BUT

you must change the lifters........................................... .................................

My Daytona runs the L76, small heads and cam (not Higgins) tune and has

300rwkw. The L76 heads are suppose to be the best, they are the rectangular

type (Higgins uses them).

Great Motor

u also might have to disable the DOD in the tune on late model engines

Jim,
Yep I gotta get a DOD delete kit for around $600 which deletes all the unwanted lifters etc. bit of a pain.... Have ordered the dry sump stuff from the states. Wet sump wasn't gunna fit...

Fingers crossed........... I think I have succesfully resized some photos small enough so they can be put on here... First pic is of the very nice stepped pipes that came with the car. Start at 1 3/4, then step to 1 7/8 then to 2 inch then into the collectors.... Then into 2 x 90mm pipes.... might be a little loud!
