Wire Crimp Tool
Anybody got any suggestions for a good quality crimp tool.
My old piece of crap has bounced off the back wall a few to many times now and all it ever did was squash and give a lousy result. Looking for suggestions that give a good neat solid result without the need to solder. Dave |

I used one of these ratcheting crimpers for all my wiring which was using uninsulated terminals and tube shrink. Forget the cheapo's they do a ****e job My crimper kit came with interchangeable jaws so you can pop in different dies for insulated terminals as well. I can't see that the pair above comes with that feature though. Got it from Repco, about $70 on spesh. Check Supercheap, I think I spotted one in their latest cattledog Greg |
I got a ratcheting crimper from Jaycar, with interchangable jaws for the coloured squash terminals and also the proper crimp terminals for a good crimp. Works fine.

Yep, blue handled ratchet crimper from Jaycar, best $70 you will spend if you're wiring the car yourself.

Best crimping tool you'll ever own. Use on non insulated connectors and then use shrink wrap and you'll have a great crimp that will last forever.

I have the Snap-on PWCS9, and bought them used. Excellent. I've also used the PWCS7, which are really nice too. You can buy either through the Snap-on site, and shipping is included in the price. Other than that, Knipex is excellent, but my Xcelite crimpers are junk.

i use this one on the big jobs
EK 15/50 G u just have to be careful it doesn't crush your fingers though but will give u a perfect crimp every time search for knipex on ebay spend 200 to 300 bucks and get good crimper and side cutters and will last for many years otherwise like the others said get one from jaycar as it will do for what u want buy the correct dies for it too u need one set of dies to do the red blue yellow insulated terminals and another set of dies to do the brass or silver uninsulated terminals like used on the white coloured plastic connectors afew weeks ago I looked on ebay for crimping tools u can find ones with a crimping tool and 5 or 6 dies all for around 100 bucks and that's in Australia they should be fine to wire up a whole car |

this is prob best one on ebay it has longer handle so u don't get sore wrists trust me when u do 50 crimps in an hour or 2 its good to have a good one and the dies will do the red blue yellow insulated terminals and also has a die for the uninsulated brass terminals like u use with the narva white connectors if u want to go abit more fancy u can always use deutsch connectors and u can get cheap crimpers for them for around 50 bucks |
Do you know if it does HT lead crimps?

Head into your nearest electrical wholesaler like L&H or Rexel and snap up a Cabac brand one.
I have had a couple now, and have not had one fail. I have had them pinched a couple of times though :( |
