Push button door locks?

The door locks on the GTO (photo 1) are typical of the protruding type of the era but vehicle design standards have relegated them to the distant past. Kit builders have been using the rear hatch lock from 1977 Honda Civics but there are none about these days.
The pull tabs (photo 2) would be simple to make but I just can't find suitable key operated locks. Is anyone aware of any relatively modern car or popular restoration model, which uses a lockable push button type lock - more likely to be fitted to the boot/trunk? Thanks. Note: MGB locks are too big. |
peter have you tried locks from lockers or maybe from a caravan suppliers have similar items for over head cupboards

Maybe these....65/66 VW???...there are a few others at Wagen Werks that could be adapted seeing the lock is for a hood catch but I remembered this from my old mans VW days!! hope it is some help. :3DSMILE:

I've noticed there is a fairly good range of glovebox push-button locks to which I could attach a pull tab, eg. early Holden. I would need to check their physical size though. |
Peter I'm not sure what the price/availability situation would be but the boot lock on my 1992 500 SL Mercedes would seem to be the type you're looking for.

Do you have Izuzu troopers down there? push button on rear hatch glass worked well. My builder frenched in these push buttons for door locks. I have no rear access buttons/locks on the rear hatch. Just a cable operated hood (bonnett?) release from the interior. Maybe a little safer and cleaner.

Push Locks, Truck Tool Box KA2 I've tracked down the correct GTO locks to a French manufacturer but they only sell in bulk - don't know that there is a big market for the extra 998 locks! Hard to find even a retail seller but one I did wanted $100 per lock. Not much point when they will be largely cosmetic. My thanks to all for the suggestions. |

I'd be after a smaller version of the VW lock with a finger hook for use on my glove box door.
