Street / Track Tyre Search
Hi All,
Given many members use their cars at track events, I am hoping someone can help me find an Australian supplier of Yokohama Advan A048 205/60/13 or an equivalent tyre. The 13 inch size seems to be the issue, however a larger size rim will not fit under the car. Has 13x5.5 on rear and 13x6 on the front. I specifically want a track tyre that is street legal so I can drive the car to sprint meetings without having to bundle 4 rims and tyres plus a jack etc into the car. The local tyre dealers in Cairns cannot source any brand of 13 inch street/track tyre. I found a 205/60/13 Toyo R888 on the internet from a southern supplier, little expensive. Contacted Tire Rack in the States who stock this Toyo for half the price but the reply from Tire Rack was they are no longer able to export Toyo, Bridgestone or Yokohama banded tyres to Australia. Also found a Kuhmo V700 track tyre but it is not street legal. Appreciate any assistance. |
13s? U sure. Pretty sure Wazza ran 16s on the bumble bee? What have u changed?
Something's sounds strange here? Send us a pic and we can help a bit more.. I think Wazza ran 16/8f and 16/9r from memory... Spookypt |

Not sure of 13" but the Kumho KU36 are a popular street-track tyre. Just be sure they are warm before pushing the limits. Geof |
My apologies for not supplying a car description, the tyres are for a Mark 1 Ford Escort.
Here are a few interesting stats on the car. SR20DET, Garret Disco Potato Turbo, 5 Speed, R31 Rear with discs, Cage, 320 rwhp, 962kg, blue plated and Full QLD rego. She is pure evil and man can she destroy rear tyres!! (only on a track) Thanks Geof, I will research the KU36. |

Restrictions are from the tyre manufacturer, not the supplier. I don't think tire rack have a choice.
I had the same thing happen with spray guns I was interested in accept they wouldn't allow Internet sales of their guns full stop. I went with a different brand because of this. |
Just use a freight forwarder whenever a seller won't ship outside the US. I've used comgateway.com and it all went smoothly.
