What an RAC TT race!
Great to see the old Aston project car, underpowered as it was, picking off the leaders as the conditions deteriorated. Huge effort by Simon Hadfield! First time an Aston has been on the podium in this race, although this particular car finished fifth way back in 2000. And how good was it to see Smithies, the old Aussie in his well-used Healey 100/6 knocking off the two Merc 300 SL Gullwings! The end of another wonderful Revival. The Dambusters memorial was truly moving --pity the old Lancaster bomber was not allowed a fly over because of strong winds. Now off to bed, it's 2.00 am, and try to plan how I can get over there again next year. Peter's photo of the Row 1 girl in front of Ludovic Lindsay's Cobra has provided me with additional encouragement... |

Ludovic Caron it was! :o Ludovic Lindsay of ERA "Remus" fame, and one of my favourite drivers, co-drove an E-type in last year's race. In my defence I plead a 2am post after watching one of the most enthralling races I've ever seen, a mix of adrenalin/admiration at Simon Hadfield's come from behind win, dreams of one day returning to Camelot -- sorry, Goodwood -- and finally the plethora of Ludovics in the Revival's entry list! :) |
I’m going to do a Jonathan Thurston - "we was robbed"; that was never a jump start by the GTO. The Goodwood starts follow any movement of the starter’s flag, i.e. both the upward and downward movement. The video replay even showed it was okay. Just because the Cobra driver was asleep (typical) they penalised the GTO. I thought (was hoping) Monsieur Alesi was going to bop that interviewer.
I lost the signal after the TT and gave up about 1:30 am. I missed the Sussex Trophy, was it any good? I saw the Hon Patrick Lindsay (Ludovic’s father?) driving “Remus” at Monaco in the 70’s. The photo is a bit washed out these days… a bit like the photographer! http://imageshack.us/a/img194/2315/1xp1.jpg |
Goodwood highlights package on the Aussie SPEED channel tonight and repeated several times over the next few days.
See the Cobras, the lightweight E-types and even the 250 GTOs all beaten by... |
One of the best videos on YouTube. A story about a car (and a journalist) that nearly won the RAC TT...

^ Really, really, really enjoyed that!

The GT40 race was awesome too.
Have to find a copy of the DVD I think. |
Hey Craig,
I remember watching this a few months back on fox and thinkin Jean Alesi was outta control! Also I remember that moment when the driver was cleaning the windscreen and then spun out! I've watched literally 100s of cobra videos on youtube and that is one of the best little docos going around. I've also enjoyed the Cobra vs Ferrari series. Any other carporn of similar ilk you care to share? Thanks for uploading. |
