Suspension shop in Melbourne

Can anyone recommend a good suspension place in Melbourne that can help with a DRB Cobra. I need somebody that take a custom approach needed for these individual cars.

At the moment I think my car is running Peders in the front and I have no idea in the rear. The front is okay, but the rear does bottom out occasionally when I hit a hole or something similar. I think the rear needs to be raised a little

Thanks in advance

I've used Toperformance in Vermont in the past for club cars, and my A9X etc, not for my Cob build though, they were incredibly helpfull, and knowledgable, and made a world of difference when i used them.
They are Koni dealers, cant remember names i'm afraid but its still the same guys running it.

Hi fellas;
I used Centreline Suspension in Thomastown to sort out my Python. They really know their way around setting up cars, so may be worth a look. Chris or Glenn are the fellas in charge.
Cheers

But as Gav said, Aussie Mike is a guru who may be able to help you also.

Hi Coiled,

I met a retired suspension engineer that worked for Ford.
He said he is keen to help me sort out my DRB as like you I think it can be better.
I am looking forward to learning from him and get the ride nice at the same time.
Will be interesting.

Traction Tyres in Rowville, great guys, very professional and decent coffee while you wait - very important!

Traction Tyre & Suspension Centre - Yokohama Motorsport Distributor

I'd be checking the shocks first. Followed by comparing specs with another DRB owner. Eg, spring rates, geometry.

Centreline suspension

Coiled,

I second Centreline, they made the Daytona a driveable car..........

Glenn is the front man/race driver ( really nice bloke ) and knows his stuff,

If you take a look at the fast club/production guys they all have Centreline

Suspension stickers.........

I don't think about how good the coffee is when I am driving flat out ( for me )

Down Conrod/Winton/Wakefield :D

We all think we need more HP to be faster, we all have smaller peckers than

We think as we'll......... I gained 5 seconds at Winton from Centreline

And driver training...........

Stiffy

sambo 11-26-2013 02:58 PM

Stiffy, was it just an alignment at Centreline or did they play around with spring rates, swap dampers, etc?

stiffy 11-26-2013 04:56 PM

Centreline

Sambo,

I took the car there as I thought it was I drive able at speed, my first

Drive was onto the trailer, my second Bathurst! It scared the sh** Out of me.

It turned out the steering rack was uneven and the car had a 12mm difference

From left to right and it wouldn't self centre as a result, this was from the

Factory.

We had never had the car on a 4 post hoist before and therefore could not see

The issue, but the numerous wheel alignments I had had didn't pick this up.....

The suburban retail tire shop alignment is great for the daily driver, but not

If you want to put it on the track a few times a year.

I haven't even touched the spring rates, shocks ( std Gaz all round ) it doesn't

Have a front sway bar ( it needs one ).

Centreline will do everything for you if u want, maybe making your car look

Pretty would be money better spent???? They go and handle OK from scratch.

Or are you making your car a track weapon for Shelbyfest :D

Stiff

sambo 11-26-2013 05:07 PM

Stiffy, 12mm variance, now that sounds familiar. Must be dialled into the jig!

Yes hoping to have my first track experience in the Cobra early next year. Can't wait.

COILED 11-28-2013 02:01 PM

Thanks for your replies guys
Centreline it is then!

stephen low 11-28-2013 06:02 PM

Coiled

We'll expect a satisfaction report after the work is done then mate!!

I too would like to improve the car's handling, once I get it back on the road of course.

That way I can then just continue to blame driver error and work on correcting that loose nut behind the wheel as well!!

Slo

Rossba 11-30-2013 02:43 AM

would be good to see what you finish up with

stiffy 11-30-2013 11:04 PM

Mr roundabout

Her Slowly,

The best money I spent was for driver training.

We drive our cars 2/3 times per year on the track, we expect to set

Fastest laps each outing without adjusting the car......

I had a great Monday at Winton with the John Bowe driving academy

And improved 3 seconds over the day. The next Saturday I improved at SF,

Improving a further 2 seconds, it was certainly the training but also being on

Track so close to the event......

Money well spent..........

Stiffy

stephen low 12-01-2013 09:36 PM

Have to agree mr stifleness.

My only ever driver training was 30+ years ago and I learnt a lot out of that day in my old 2.4 litre DATSUN skyline before they downgraded to Nissans - lol

However I might be thrown out of the fire into the frying pan very shortly as I suspect a forthcoming birthday present is a V8 supercar drive present.

At least the equipment will be up to spec.

Might be a test the size of the cahoony's but.........

stephen low 12-04-2013 01:25 AM

Presents............

Ah well it did come true - hot laps.... and not the dancing sort Mr Stiffness!

Birthday present from the missus included a gift certificate for 9 laps in a V8 super car - 6 of them under my steerage - 3 with some experienced race loony I suspect to scare the bejesus out of me!.

Better not punt the damn thing into a wall at Sandown as I pay the first $3K part of any repair bill.

Knowing my record anything's possible - DoH!

Might try and take the opportunity to talk about suspension set up while I can though!!

Had to keep the thread link going guys - lol
