Hi all,
Just a brief introduction from a new member who lives in the beautiful southern highlands of NSW town of Moss Vale.
It has been my life-long dream, like I guess most of my fellow members, to own tue magnificent Shelby Cobra, or at least something that is a damn good quality replica of the original great car.
Now at 48 I'm just beginning my build journey, hoping to start it this year sometime so I hope to use your extensive knowledge and experience to help me achieve my dream.
I've started my dream looking for a copy (literally) of a owners manual. If someone has a good quality copy that would be prepared to copy it again I would appreciate it. Of course I would also cover costs.
Cheers,
John

Hiya John

Welcome to this crazy forum, there's certainly plenty of advice here, both good and not so....your challenge is to sort out which is which

On the owners manual, there's not really any such thing produced that I'm aware of for the kits available here. Depending on the manufacturer the "build manual" may contain comprehensive instructions or just very basic construction info and sketches. I've built 2 ICV's and the manuals are chalk and cheese.

Not sure where the manual will help with your decision either. The best place to get a handle on a build is on the forum build pages here. You'll see some guys are fanatical with every detail and others just want to get the bluddy thing on the road:)

As for getting one, you may be able to purchase one from one of the manufacturers, but really, do some homework on which company you want to go with, maybe they'll supply you one then deduct the cost off your deposit on the kit.

Anyway, good luck with your dream. It's great fun.

Hi John

Welcome to the Club... enjoy your journey.

You can buy the Factory Five manual online for about $10. I have an old version I could possibly email to you if I can find it.

But really it will be no use to you (or me for that matter...) until you decide which kit you want to build. The manuals and kits are not interchangeable.

Since looking at FFR and their manual I have put a deposit on an Absolute Pace 427 which is a completely different beast. The build manual for the Pace is still being developed. I have seen some pages of it, but not a full draft.

I believe most of the manuals require some 'interpretation', some are largely based on 'imagination'! ;)

Good luck

Tony

Welcome John! Congrats on deciding to pursue your dream of building/owning an AC Cobra replica.

As with a few others here, I am finally in possession of a Pace 427SC (rolling body/chassis at this stage). You'd be well-served talking with Craig at Absolute Pace about his kit. From the way it's been designed, it promises to be a very straightforward kit to build.

Cheers,
Sime

Welcome Johno,

Great to have you aboard.

You may want to have a look at ERA's website under the Index section.
Era Replica Automobiles 427 - The premier 427 replica in kit and turn-key

Closest thing to a build manual/info guide that i can find.

ERA have a great cobra, and this index page nearly sold me on one, it just a shame they can't easily be registered here in Aus.

Good luck with your car and build.

John, I answered on your other thread about the original 427 manuals. I'm still not sure if you're after the original owners manual or a particular brand's build manual, I found the old Contemporary build manuals really interesting. While some of it is obviously specific to the brand, there's some great general information as well.

(I've just uploaded these to Google Docs. If anyone can't open the links and would like them emailed, let me know)

Dimis - same here! The ERA website was pretty much ahead of its time years ago for having so much good information when others were still just posting information packs to interested punters. They have always been a class act.
