FORD Crate 427ci compliance
Anyone have any experience with New Ford crate engines?
Ive always like the idea of an old school look but have always been concerned about putting a 20 year old engine in a car I plan on having for the next 20 years. These new crate engines look the part. I was thinking of dressing a 351w up with a 95 mustang intake set and EFI to pass emissions here in QLD but the guys at Ford Racing say I need a performance Edelbrock Victor Jnr intake manifold. Ford Racing 427 Cubic Inch 450HP X Head Front Sump Crate Engine Assembly -- M-6007-X427FFT Any advice? |
The 5.0 intake will not fit the 351 (5.8) based engine without spacers, etc. There are EFI systems and intakes for the 5.8 from Ford but they were primarily used on trucks save for the Mustang Cobra "R" model.
You might want to look at an aftermarket intake and EFI system so long as it can be mapped to pass the emissions test. |
Here's a complete EFI sytem for a 351 Windsor
Ford 351 Windsor Genuine Fuel Injection KIT EFI LOW Intake Manifold Mustang | eBay I'm planing on putting a 1995 351W in my Pace kit, so far have the short engine. I've been told that it needs a stock cam, heads, cats and a good tune to pass emissions testing. I will have to ask my engineer if an after market EFI systems will pass. |
