AC ACE & GT40 @ shannons auction

Just noticed these 2 in the latest Shannons auction

That's a low selling estimate for the GT40!

WardL 02-21-2014 08:39 PM

It's priced low because not many want a GT40 with a little Lexus V8. Will it even sell? It is a beautiful vehicle from the outside, but what you gonna do with the insides?

Exactly. Not many would want a GT40 with that engine and that untraditional interior. Plus the wheels are all wrong. Unlikely to even get to $50K

Guys, just to confirm; these cars are in Australia. GT40 replicas are often (usually) over $100K AUD these days and Aussies are much more tolerant of the newer non-Ford engine options. Sure, the wheels and interior aren't period correct, but even changing these to suit someone's taste will likely still have a buyer well under the market for an emissions compliant car.

As a comparison...
I think Paul Gillis's GT40, currently still For Sale...is the best deal going at the moment.

This is a REALLY nice car...with everything well and truly sorted, and priced to sell.

Wazza that is a nice GT40, if i had a spare $90k floating around.
What does everyone think of the ACE, as i see the GT40 isnt flavor of the month.
Those lexus V8s are a tough little engine when done right, couldnt be any worse than having a bow tie in the back could it? stir :)

Beautiful!!!! The Ace and Aceca are lovely cars. It's amazing to see how few of them still have the original engine. This one has non-original engine, paint and interior, so the reasonable price reflects this.

I'd love to own, but my AC budget is closer to this level;

Non the less the Aceca was a cool car.

Does anyone know if there were legitimate bids on the cars? Sometimes auction results include a last minute vendor bid before the car is passed in, so it's hard to know what the actual interest was in the car on the day.

Craig, I was going to bid on this shannons car....but when I learnt of another QLD car was available for $??k.... after its original asking price of $160k I decided to turn my attention to it. I literally missed out by an hour and 10 mins...Sadly for me, another QLD decided to buy it......back!

ARGH!
