Shed renovation...

In the next couple of months we are moving house.

The good news is, the new place has plenty of car accommodation, but it needs some work before it can become the humble new lair for the cobra.

There are 4 areas that need to be addressed:

The Driveway:
20m long but not very wide. Approx 50sqm. Concrete in fairly good condition
The Carport
3 car open to the side. Approx 75sqm. Concrete laid haphazardly, with poor drainage, aesthetics and trip hazards
The Garage
2 car garage. Approx 35sqm. Concrete in great shape. 40yrs old, 1 slab not cuts or cracks
The Shed
Dilapidated 25sqm connected to the back of the garage. Laid on concrete best described as rubble.

Plan so far is to:

1. Widen Driveway by about 1m

2. Knock down the shed and extend the garage back to where the shed is now.

3. Patch up, rip up or other the concrete that is in the carport area.

With that, I guess I'm going to need some concrete advice...

What products are available for use on concrete driveways/carports that will last and look decent?
Are there any recommend products that can be used to cover over badly laid concrete like a pebble mix or similar?
What concrete finishing products do people recommend for each of these spaces?

Any suggestions or recommendations at this point are most welcome...

drive way should be drilled & dowelled so the added concrete is attached by resin between the slabs
carport can be skim coated by 50mm concrete if height allows it
shed slab ... start again will be cheaper & use old slab as base for new slab
as I cant see you areas this might help

Avoid stamped concrete...Its really nice but it needs regular cleaning and resealing...if you have lots of other stuff to do...this is just another task !

Congrats on the move Dimis, sorry, can't help with any concrete advise buy yes, knock the shed down and extend the garage. The bigger the area the further the junk can spread.

I will leave the topping suggestions to others, but please heed this advice (I have been involved in many concrete pours). Ensure that the base underneath the concrete has been properly prepared and contains 12" of well compacted (i.e., tamped after each 4") gravel. Wet the gravel down prior to the final tamping. The top coat will not matter if your base is not properly prepared. The quickest way to crack concrete is to have a gap develop between the base and the pad. No amount of reinforcement will make up for a poor base.

Shed has been ripped out, and new slab on a solid base will get laid.
