Windscreen Frames for different shaped bodies
Hi Guys,
Doing the research into windscreen frames and it seems that there are many different shaped body types that make the frame either sit too high in the middle, or the sides. I'm looking at Brasscraft out of the UK (Brasscraft - Cobra Windscreens and Brightwork) They look the goods and have sent many frames down under but haven't asked for what kits. Given that I've got a G-Force has anyone used Brasscraft, or know of a frame that fits like a glove? Thanks in advance! --JC |
I would go to Paul Bennett's shop to hang out and work on my car every Friday. I watched how he would solve fit of windscreen on customers cars. Some with thin glass body where center would not touch, he would run metal brace to push body up in center. Some he would have to grind body at each end to bring glass close to body. He would tilt glass to help also. Rubber under glass helps hide mismatch as well. Hope this helps.

Just make frame to suit the body like I did. Easy!
I wouldn't worry too much about it. Angle of the windscreen completely changes the fit so you find the angle that fits best and smooth out the rest with bog. As said above, the seal hides a lot. |
I was under the impression most frames were the same. And as said in the previous post, the seal makes up for irregularities.

Also check the screen width. I didn't research this properly and the screen I ordered from the States (origin: China I suspect) was about an inch narrower where the arms drop into the body compared to the mounts on the frame - this is on my Harrison kit.

Sounds like the width is more important than the curve. I'll get them to give me a post to post measurement and see how close it is. |
I've got the bog standard frame...suits most body shapes ...all I did was buy a wider seal rubber for across the front...looks ok and conforms with my RMC shell
