windage trays
Does anybody know of a windage tray for a 302 windsor front sump that doesn't have to be bolted under the main caps ? Preferably attached between sump and block.

Most aftermarket sumps can come with a windage tray.
I run a Boss 302 (bolt under main caps) and the one that came with the High Energy sump Ross |
I too run the factory Boss 302 windage tray.

There are none. The half round main cap seals would have to be incorporated. Imagine trying to keep that arrangement sealed. However on an FE the bottom of the block is flat, hence the windage tray can be sandwiched between two pan gaskets and the pan itself. Still difficult to seal properly.

Thanks all ! I had looked at several catalogs and couldn't find anything..so you have confirmed my suspicions . I'll get one that goes under the cap bolts !
Thanks ! |
Did you check out your sump manufacture for windage tray insert?

Thanks all, Its not my Cobra....this one has an alloy Cobra logo Ribbed Sump.

No reason you can't make one. Use louvered or expanded alum to form the shield. Then have tabs welded to the inside of the pan to bolt the shield to. Keep the shield just above the full oil level and you'll be fine.
Take a look at the inside of a Canton pan, that's all they did. |
Good idea ! But as I said it's not my car and this bloke is pretty impatient ..so i'll leave it up to him ! Thanks.
