KMP0762 new kirkham 427 sc

Hi Everyone

Just wanted to introduce myself and share the build of Kirkham KMP 0762 with the Cobra community.

I have ordered a 427 sc.

The major options ordered were
Glove box
Avon tires
seat tracks
tripod headlights
fire extinguisher system
passenger fresh air
stainless exhaust

The photos up to this date can be seen on Kirkhams Facebook page(i hope my link works I'm new at posting to ClubCobra)
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...8830774&type=1

I had initially considered polishing the car but am now leaning towards painting it.

Ill look into how to post some photos and see if i can get some up in the next couple of days.

Great photos and an even better Car. You must be beside yourself with excitement waiting for it to arrive. Whether you paint or polish the cat...it will be a crowd turner. Good luck with it!

Most of us have a goofy name for our cars.

Yours will be an easy choice --- Heisenberg. :MECOOL:

Hey Marcus,

Great to see the pics. I didn't realise your Kirkham was as far along as it is. When do you expect that it will be here?

Also, have you a colour in mind if you decide to paint her?

Cheers,
Simon

Dimis 06-29-2014 05:25 PM

Paint it? Why?

I like 'em bare, brushed, finished, even filed...
Meh, truth be told I even like 'em painted too... Blue, black, red, pink, magenta, turquoise... any colour except YELLOW :p

Now where's Boxhead again?
Might even get handbags at 50 paces from lobelly or slowy :p

PS: Congrats Marcus, best wishes with it all.

Great photos Marcus, thanks for sharing. I still find it remarkable that aluminium bodied Cobras are being turned out by hand in this day and age.

Personally I think a polished car is dangerous to other drivers on a sunny day. Call me a wowser...

MrWhite 06-30-2014 04:14 AM

Thanks for all the comments

Starting to get excited and Heisenberg it is thanks Don.

I was hoping it would be leaving Utah soon. And maybe a real dark blue but still very undecided.

Polish

Mr White,

Car porn, polish it, don't paint it.

At least polished stripes if not the whole car..........

Looks great Marcus. Some random observations:
Judging by the fuel pressure gauge, looks like you're planning to run a carb. Are you putting it on 90 day rego?

There's HEAPS of room for the throttle pedal! I wonder if you'll be able to fit your left foot past the clutch when you're cruising along?

I like your battery kill switch location. Easy access and discreet.

You might think I'm mad, but I'd leave it in file finish for a while!

Good choices on the options - Kirkham's latest design stainless side pipes look spectacular.

Certainly paint is a personal preference, but for me, part of the attraction of buying an aluminum body is showing it as an aluminum body. I also would have never been able to choose a color.

MrWhite,
It appears that your pics got reversed when you uploaded them ;)
You're gonna have a blast with that beast!
Welcome.

twobjshelbys 06-30-2014 07:44 PM

Paint it. No original cobra was a "bare naked lady". Most were "Guardsman Blue".

TNTaylor 07-01-2014 11:25 AM

Marcus -

Congratulations!

I have a similarly equipped Kirkham coming within the month but it is a 427 Street in polished finish. It is powered by a 468ci Shelby Engine, that dynoed 571/611 hp/tq

I'm sure you are as anxious to take delivery as I am!

Best of luck

And the original Cobra did not come with a Shelby 468ci engine either, among other Kirkham bits, say like the billet aluminum suspension, trunk-mounted battery and Wilwood brakes. Paint it, don't paint it, but I'd personally wouldn't base my decision on what is or isn't original, because you own a Kirkham, not a CSX3000.

FWIW, a brushed finish is a more staid unpainted look, if the polished aluminum is too flashy or bold for you. If you do decide to paint it, paint it any color but beige. :p

Paint, polish or brush seems a contentious issue :)

I still haven't worked out photos and photo bucket yet but my current favourite colour is the same as the colour that CSX4188 is painted see link below

TimG who owns the car (CSX4188) was kind enough to send me additional photos of his car. Thanks again.

Does anybody know what colour it is?

Thanks Marcus

Yes.
It's dark blue. :p

Ps. I'll PM you the details you asked for later today.
Take care.

Maybe it's the lighting, but that looks like Mazda's Miata/RX-7 "Montego Blue" to me. Again, the lighting may play tricks with true color, but there looks to be alot of green in that particular color.

Color is a very personal choice. For instance, Dimi's hates yellow, but I love yellow. Bare aluminum is not for everyone, but the "paint it, because the originals were painted" shouldn't be a consideration since we're talking about replicas here.

Don't believe everything you read RK. ;)

I'll let you in on a little secret - I kind of like yellow... But more than that I like stirring a couple of the good blokes around here that have yellow cars.
Shhh.... Don't tell 'em. %/ :)

Looks awesome - great photos. Nice to see them from the other side of the globe!
