Ls1 Manual box choices
After loaning the commodore to the prodigal son and have him bring it home with the auto blown, it gives me adoption of taking the auto out of the Cobra to replace the broken one.
That leaves me with the option of putting a manual in the Cobra. Any suggestions of the type of box you would go for if you didn't have one to start with? Thanks all Stan. ' |
And before you get me on the autocorrect.
He is up for adoption. !!!!!!! |
Beat me too it! :D

what about a t56
|
Did you use a crate motor or a used donor, and, might this make a difference? I went with a complete donor and adopted the engine, gearbox, diff and ecu as it gave me a degree of confidence the package would all work together. However, I've fitted much larger dia tyres so it could all be problematic in the end.
I guess what I'm suggesting is to consider what cam and timing settings, etc, your motor has and whether the hp and torque are set to a particular gearbox and diff ratio. For your consideration. |
What "kit" is it , what HP, what diff ratio ??
TKO is a popular choice or a T56 Magnum (tremec) Talk to Mal Wood --he has everything you need, even advise :) |
Depends on your set up and goals.
If you have a relatively mild LS1, the stock T56 will bolt up without too much hassle, and will last for years on the street. But if it's a week end track warrior with gobs of torque, you'll want something stronger with better gear ratio's. |
