Windscreen assembly

Guys

Pulled my screen apart to get the grotty frame polished and noted that the glass partly covered the various screw in points for visor and lower frame attachment.

Is it normally the case that these screws must be short enough to only just penetrate the frame and not hit the glass or can the glass be scalloped at these entry points to allow more screw thread into the frame area?

Broke my first screen originally screwing into the glass trying not to repeat the event but didn't know how the windscreen providers managed this clearance issue.

Look forward to some feedback.

yep, you got it in one and won't be the last to crack a screen that way too!!

one thing to remember that screwing the screws in further won't make the connection any stronger. The screw only needs to be as long as the depth of the hole. The screw going past this is only holding on to air.

I would recommend trimming all of your screws to length while you have the frame apart.

Cheers

Thanks Guys

Yes realised any deeper than frame was pulling on nothing but the extra length gave some measure of security if things loosened before actually falling out - falling off.

I do have the various bits available to get the correct depths set before the screen is replaced at end of week.

Will work on that to correct first then.

Cheers

Steve
